Well, you've had a few receipts for salves. You can also buy a calendula salve for burns and blisters at almost any good homeopathic or herbal medicine store. BTW, if you decide to make the stuff yourself, use calendula (or pot marigold) and not the modern French and American marigolds. The modern varieties are prettier, but they aren't the same variety and don't actually have much benefit to their petals beyond looks. Well basically there are two reasons. First, they simply did not sell well enough for it to be feasible for Misty to write anymore. They were the worst selling of her books so she decided to not write anymore. Secondly, she decided to not write anymore of the DT books after her life was threatened by some extremely disturbed fans over her use of pagan religion. Misty explains it herself much better in two letters she wrote for Firebird Arts and Music at www.firebirdarts.com look for them under the Misty Index labeled The Last Straw and the Camel's Back. I'm guessing there won't be another Jennie Talldear book for similar reasons. Made me very unhappy when I heard about this since I loved those books but I can understand why Misty has chosen to not write anymore. > two: velgarth? this is a term i don't get, although i'm assuming it > implies valdemar and associates, correct? Velgarth is the world that Valdemar, Karse, Iftel, the Vales et al exist in, so yep you were right :) Chocolate marshmallow ice cream pie sheep to everyone Amy Ferret Friend Lady of All Things Missing, Especially Socks ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 12:13:32 EST From: VanyelAshkervon-+AT+-aol.com To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Sorry friends Message-ID: <93.769ef9.25b4a7bc-+AT+-aol.com> Unfortunately I'm going to have to unsubscribe from the list for the time being. I think that probably there are two reasons magic might be different in Oaths than in the Valdemar books. First, I think the fact that the Oaths books take place outside of Valdemar means that there is no suppressing magical force, and that therefore magical ways are free to mutate and change according to the style of the user. Second, I think that the Star-Eyed's magic is more of a shamanic magic than high magic. If Kethry did not have the bond with the Star-Eyed, her use of magic might have been different. As for how long after, I would think that it would be 500 years or so; I'm not sure where I remembered reading that, but that is what popped into my head. What do others think?
