Hotmail seem to be having persistent problems with disk space right now.
It's not at all unusual to see digests sat around for people on Hotmail
for several hours at a time, as they've been temporarily refused due to
what looks an awful lot like overfull disks at the other end.

Yahoo are no better, I should add. Their servers just seem overloaded :(

I haven't read the T&K books, but a violin immediatly popped into mind for 
Vanyel, mostly because throughout  the series its basically "poor Vanyel" all 
the time (please no flames from the Vanyel defenders I liked the books, 
honest! )Its just that I think Vanyel and music theme and  I think of some 
depressed french guy with a bottle of wine in the  dark corner of a cafe with 
a guy nearby playing some woeful peice on the violin giving him a sympathetic 
"i know life is so terrible lets just drink away our sorrows" sort of look.

Ummm don't know why, I hear a pretty flute for Talia ( a harp couod work too) 
and a bass for Dirk.  Don't know where these came from, but I really want to 
hear what other people come up with for the characters

PS I've read (in this order) Winds, Arrows, Storms, LHM
Since I have no clue where to go from this point, any sugestions on what to 
read next?

I use Yahoo, which doesn't have a lot of fitering
choices, so I got the list in the digest form.  This
way you can do it by subject.  It makes replying a
little bit more difficult but you get fewer messages,
too.

I highly recommend reading Oath series... the characters are really strong.  
The Gryphon series is great for pre-history and the Owl series is great for 
getting away from Haven for a bit.  I'm half in love with Tarma and Kethry 
(Oathbound and Oathbreakers) especially since they were my introduction to 
the wonderful world created by Misty and I happen to love female fighters, 
always have.  That is, of course, if you mean where to go next in Velgarth.  
Personally, if you want to read some non-Valdemar books, I would highly 
recommend the Bardic Voices series.. those happen to be some of my all time 
favorite books that Misty has written.   

Since there are so many choices, I would say just find a book that has 
Mercedes Lackey on the cover and read to your hearts content, but that 
wouldn't be nice so...... Oath series in the Velgarth world or Bardic Voices 
(Lark & the Wren, etc.) from not Valdemar related books.

     A while back we were discussing the effect of constant use of
magical powers and the effect of node use that caused the bleaching of
hair, eyes etc.  Now here's my question:

    When skan got stuck in the portal when Urtho was trying to send him
and two others to the evacuation site, he came out bleached white and
bone thin, and he was only stuck there for a few moments, if i read that
correctly.  But when Falconsbane got stuck in the in-between portal
plane for god knows how long, and Ancar accidently let him out,  he
wasnt bleached or bone thin, only weak and sickly.  Now, what's the
difference, or was it just writers-license?

     Just throwing my two cents in again, for the sheer joy of seeing my
own writing i suppose :)

Leave the subject blank

Then type:  unsubscribe   in the body of the message.  That will get you
removed.  Make sure you spell unsubscribe right.

i would say that the difference would be that falconsbane had constructed
that little sanctuary within the place between gates.. as long as he was in
there he was protected from some of the effects.. i haven't read that in a
looong time so if he did not make it to his sanctuary .... my other theory
is this... Skan's time in the portal was almost simultaneous with the
magical event that caused the cataclysm. the effect of the destruction of
Urtho's stronghold and such caused a disturbance of magical energies that
caused the rapid bleaching.
