I was on the list before and I always ended up with 10 to 20 messages a day. Are there different types of subscriptions or are things just really slow right now on the list? Oh, and shouldn't I be getting the emails ~I~ send to the list as well as the ones everyone else is sending? Ma'ar) had constructed a pocket inside of the void wherein most of the effects of being between the Gates was shunted. I would think that the construcion was like some sort of sheild in that it could not only withstand the flow and extremes of the between the Gates energy but could work by yeilding to them and being poliable with them. I think that Firesong may have said something about all this but then it has been a while since I have read it. I also have to agree with Shana, and think that the bleaching would have been caused that way OR the pure amount of energy between the Gates was enough to bleach him because the Void is on another plane. Remember if you will the different planes involved in the books and it is entirely possible that the Cataclysm didn't even come close to toughing that particular one. The plane of the world therein had to be affected and so that led into the work of the Tayledras. Back in school.... hopin to make it through. I have the same problem as Kendrah does. I'll get messages that are replies to messages I've never seen, on trains of thought I do not remember anyone else discussing. I don't *think* I need a spoiler space, but if you haven't read the Winds Of ___ trilogy you may want to stop reading. You've been warned. (: I'm not sure what an ObMisty is, but I also have a comment about the question posed concerning Skandranon and Falconsbane coming from the Void differently.. The Void drains power from creaturs, human or no. Firesong was demonstrating to Darkwind and Elspeth his shields that were virtually unbreakable from the outside. They worked like that because he grounded them in the Void to drain the other mage's attacks off harmlessly, but he also said that he couldn't do it for long because the Void leeches life force of anyone who touches it. Remember his hand was cold when they touched it from his heat going to the Void? My Winds books have come down with a serious and disturbing case of Missing, however, from when I moved to college, and I can't find a page for you, but if you read it I'm sure you at least vaguelly remember it. It's the first one in the series, I believe, when he first starts to train Elspeth and Darkwind. Anyway, back to Skan and Falconsbane... Skan wasn't protected while he was in the Void. He was just lost there temporarily, which would have drained much energy, ie: he lost weight and his feather pigmentation. Falconsbane, however, was in his neat little hidey-hole (which Kate already mentioned) and it protected from whatever powers that be in the Void. He didn't get into it as fast, I believe, as he did when it was his idea because he was rather thrust into it, but he did get to hide there and that kept him safe. Sorry this got so long! It would have been shorter if I could have directed you to a page, but alas. :-\ I hope that made things clearer instead of confusing people! I'll run back to my little corner of lurkdom now. I thought you'd die because the place between Gates is a power sink right, so wouldn't it suck you dry of all your energy and kill you? Characters as instruments...
