Oh, and shouldn't I be getting the emails ~I~ send to the >> list as well as the ones everyone else is sending? Things are certainly not all that busy, but if you're not seeing your own messages then something is not quite right. Send a mail message to listproc-+AT+-herald.co.uk with a blank (or innocuous) subject line, and in the message body, write: set mercedes-lackey It should come back and tell you what your settings are, and the one you're interested in is MAIL; if it says NOACK you won't be getting your own postings back. ACK means you get all postings including your own, DIGEST means you get the digests, POSTPONE means that something has been repeatedly wrong with your mail (most usually you've been over your quota) and Listproc has turned off your mail so as not to flood the mailbox at this end with bounce messages. If you want to change which setting you're on, send another message saying: set mercedes-lackey mail XXX where XXX is the setting above that you want to use. Message-ID: <14.4920f0.25bb268e-+AT+-aol.com> I don't know if this will help, if only to rule it out as the one for which you are looking. You reach me on the list that comes through "mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk", but I have never seen a list of the Heralds during the time I have subscribed to this list. Are you acquiring a new computer? Able to get the old one fixed? I bought this one from Gateway in October and I love it. Message-ID: <24.4c5552.25bb2d54-+AT+-aol.com> Greetings listsibs -- A strange request for you all. I have a ton of books (quite literally, a ton), and am moving a great deal. I'm in the U.S. Army, and get tired of hauling everything around the world (literally). I''ve been reading about how some of your libraries don't get much in the way of ML. If one of you wishes, I am willing to donate most of my books on ML to your library. I'd prefer not to donate to an individual -- libraries always need books, and this way, donation would benefit more people. My books are in good shape -- but frankly, some of Misty's books -- particularly the gryphon and owl series don't really appeal to me that much anymore. (one of those things where you're glad you read it, but don't really need to read it again). I find that I am a lot more selective these days on whether I want to read some of her books. Question -- do you think Misty writes just for a particular age group -- or do her books have general appeal for all ages? (Obviously, would have to be at least early teens to get full understanding of her writing). Please e-mail me off-line with the address of your local library (need the street and ZIP Code, or other information if you're outside U.S.) so the whole list doesn't get flooded. I'm willing to send books outside of the U.S. -- but would prefer to keep the cost at a minimum. And frankly, I have just about all her books, so we're talking a large shipment. paustinnew-+AT+-aol.com ObMisty -- I think that Misty's books such as the Black Swan and other excursions into non-Valdemar topics are actually some of her best works.
