Her characters supply much needed role models especially for those who find real life ones hard to come by. I didn't have any female role models outside of family till I went to college, and even my family members had significantly different interests from me. While you can't talk to fictional characters, you can at least take comfort from the fact that there are others like you out there. Its also possible to follow the examples they set in how you conduct your own life. I doubt most of you were interested in my thoughts on role models! They are great role-models for me, even if they are fictional. On another though, I used to hold the fictional mage Tannim in a totally different sort of..er... respect. Message-ID: <20000216001044.21896.qmail-+AT+-web3705.mail.yahoo.com> I know, I know, I should have braided, but... I have a comment on the issue of "is or is not the Star-Eyed the same as Vkandis' goddess-consort?" I don't know if you've talked about this recently, but seeing as how I just re-subscribed the the 'list, I hope you can forgive me. I don't THINK that this qualifies as a spoiler, even though it mentions StormWarning and StormRising. In StormWarning, it mentions that Vkandis' consort was named Kalenel, and in that book (and the others) it mentions that the Star-Eyed's name is Kal'endel. Coincidence? I don't think so. Seeing as how my persona is a worshiper of the Goddess though friends with a Sun-Priest, she finds that tidbit veeeery interesting. Oh well, tell me what you think, for or against. I did mean to say reply to me directly but somehow in my rush to get it out I seem to have forgotten. And again sorry for the off topic post, but I knew this was a list with a variety of ages on it and I was desperate. The two people I was supposed to interview go this nasty stomach flu which is going around where I live. Well sorry again for creating havoc I really didn't mean to. Now for something on topic, anyone have an idea what the next SERRAted Edge book is about. I heard it was was not going to be a new Tannim book but with one with an author named Esther Friesner and should be out, next year, (I think). Any ideas, I am mostly curious if it going to be an elf based book or will it be like the other SERRA books she did with Mark Shepard, (I think). Also sort of on topic, I am intriegued by Misty's elves in the books, they are quite your traditional ones, does anyone know where she got the ideas. I looked at little and it seems they maybe based on Scottish tradion, but I have never found anything firm on that. Well that is it. I am going to go before I kill my computer which seems to be acting up.
