I've been gone for almost a year now. But I do remember some of you, and I've missed this list! I've read Brightly Burning, and I thought of an interesting question to ask. Ooh, let me put in a spoiler thingy. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SPOILER SPACE There. That should be good. What I was going to ask was about Lan's lifebond with his companion. Has anyone else been lifebonded to their Companions before? Do you think that this happened because Lan wasn't meant to live to adulthood - because wouldn't that kind of bond be a kind of problem for marriage or whatever? And do you suppose that Lan and Kalira(sp?) are a pair that will be reincarnated together? * * * * * * END SPOILER SPACE Well, that's enough questions for now. Gwena - first she says most definitely when asked by Elspeth that she is NOT a mage, but then she is (and misty handles it by saying she was keeping info from Elspeth) ... but I thought by her nature gwena couldn't tell a falsehood ... any ideas? my idea is that the companions are mage channels --> they can feed power to their chosens who are mages, but are not themselves mages. i think that unlike human channels, companions would be able to do more (ie, actually *see* mage energy). as far as companions telling falsehoods --> it seems to me that they tend to be very precise at times. so, no gwenna didn't lie when she said that she isn't a mage (she isn't one). elspeth just didn't ask the correct questions: can gwenna manipulate mage energy in any fashion? freddie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? S P O I L E R S P A C E * * * * As for the reason of hte lifebonding, it was explained in the book that it was needed for Kalira to be able to control Lavan's powerful gift. I'm sure more then fate had a hand in that pairing. I definatly think that they will be reincarnated together, after the sacrafice they made they certainly deserve it. We will probably never see it in writing though. ObMisty.... How do you think Diera Ashkevron was related to Vanyel? (Pg 360 hc) Cousin? Neice maybe. Certainly not sister or else she would have been mentioned in Herald Mage. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cariad" To: Sent: Wednesday, May 10, 2000 9:49 PM Subject: Fluff and Brightly Burning > Heyla all! > **************Fluff > *Lady Ember steps out of lurker-dom, blushing because she has stayed away far longer than she had intended to, and trying to avoid splashes of water because she'll probably be mistaken for a newbie* > **************** > > Or should I say heyla to all, especially those who remember me!
