Staying a beast would be a denial of himself, or (perhaps worse) embracing his own worst aspects instead of his best. The story is, after all, a metaphor. That is one of the reasons I did not care for Fire_Rose. >> Ahhh! I see. You see, I have always thought that the point of Beauty and the Beast was learning to look beneath someone's surface to find the person within. So having the Beast become human always seemed to say that once you're in love, you lose whatever faults you had to other eyes. That, and the whole thing reminds me too much of that awful romance plot... Reforming the Bad Boy. ::sigh:: So that's why I liked the Fire Rose... the faults remained, but they worked beyond them. Message-ID: <20000612031338.44042.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Well, I haven't posted for a bit so I've accumulated some stuff I wanted to reply to... so here's a potpourri of responses (some of them are a bit old - sorry :( ) Kenneth said... >Well, I have to admit that I'm unwilling to pay for a hardback version of >BB (or anything that Misty has written recently). I'll wait until the >paperback version comes out. You know, I've been feeling exactly the same way... don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Misty's writing quite a bit... but I just don't think I'd be willing to spend $25 on, say, part of the Winds trilogy while I /would/ spend $25 on part of the Arrows trilogy. On another note, is it just me or does it seem like recently her writing seems to be aimed at more of a YA audience, though, what with the Owl series (wasn't that meant to be YA?) and then Brightly Burning (which I thought was more YA). Also, Herald Jacquelle said: >It seemed to me that Misty rushed this. I wish she had explored >Lavan's >relationship with Kalira before killing them off. I mean, Lavan >didn't >even >realize that he was lifebonded to his Companion. This was bothering me also... I mean, Lan obviously knew he felt strongly about Kalira but it almost seems like Misty overlooked the fact that /nobody told him he was lifebonded to her!!!/ Like you said, it really seemed like she rushed this book by overlooking details and just trying to get out the main plot of the story. >This is an incredible story, with so much material that it almost >seems a waste to put it into one book. It could easily have been a > >trilogy, in >my opinion. And most of the action was packed into the last few chapters. I agree with you here also! It would have made an /excellent/ trilogy with a wonderful ending! Also, it would have left a lot more room for character development than having everything in one book did. All in all, I thought it was a great book.. just not up to par with some of Misty's other books. Everything was so rushed... it wasn't as satisfying as reading the story as a trilogy would have been. well, that's it from me about BB!
