I get distracted a lot when I'm reading my mail since I have 5 younger sibs, and I find it hard to remember everything I want to say, too. So what I try to do is only reply directly to a message if I have a long reply, and for all my other messages, copy the part I'm replying to into a notepad or wordpad file. Then, after I've read all my mail, I can re-read it and reply to what I need to, delete the questions I was going to answer that have already been answered by other people, AND I wont repeat the same comments that have been made by people replying to the same post because I've already read them. This is especially important with old mail, b/c lots of things have probably already been said and sometimes it gets repetitive. Hope this helps some ppl. ~Song ===== (a.k.a. There's sort of a message of "the Beast you're with will turn into a prince if you love him enough and stay with him through his worst Beastliness." It's a form of the "saved by the love of a good woman" plot so often found in romance novels. The truth isn't so easy. People can change, sure, but they change because they *want* to, because they realize they can't go on as they have been. You can't make a person change, no matter how much you love them, and loving a person in spite of their bad doesn't make the bad go away. The Beast staying a Beast is not so pretty a picture, but certainly much more true. Does anyone know the subject and.or body message to subscribe to the digest? 'Specially since I'm going away for 2 weeks soon and I'd like to be able to check my mail without having to sift through 200 some-odd messages. (Seriously, I'm gone for 3 days and get 90 messages)Thanks; FAME-flavored sheep in advance! On Ages and stuff: I'm 15, have read all the books, 'cept BB, which I'm working on now, and live in North Carolina. The Middle. That's on the East Coast, and NO, I'm not inbred! ^_~ I welcome being stalked by Misty fans. All of you, come live here! I swear, there are no Misty fans over here! <> Does anyone remember how old An'desha is in Winds? Compare his age to Elspeth/Darkwind's age and you have your answer. I think they're pretty close, anyway, but I don't remember exactly. <> Well, I thought they may have had some sort of trade with Rethwellan...wasn't that one of the purposes of Selenay's 1st marriage? Some kind of aliiance? I would think trade would come with that. Or is my memory screwed up? I haven't re-read Winds for a while cause It's not one of my particular faves. Pardon me, but copying and pasting takes me about 5 seconds; I highlight the part I want to reply to, hit copy, click the notepad file on the start bar, hit paste, then read the rest of the mail. If you do it while your reading instead of after, it shouldn't be that much of a prob. And please...can we stop flaming the ppl who make simple requests or point things out that we didn't know? I know most ppl don't intend to be offensive, so there's really no reason for anyone to jump all over people and say "Well, EXCUSE ME for living, I didn't mean to do something that inconvenienced you" or something of the like; just try to honor their request. Or, if you feel like being rude and spiteful, ignore it. <> Selenay & Darin were lifebonded, weren't they? I think it says so & so "swears it's a lifebond" somewhere after Darin got Chosen. Neither of them really had emotional problems...at least none that I can think of. Correct me if I'm wrong! About those BB Spoilers!!: Please, ppl, if you're braiding and part of it's about BB, SAY it at the beginning of that section of the braid so we can skip it if we don't want to read it!! I just read a major spoiler inadvertently...(Woe is me, I'll get over it) but please, try to remember your spoiler space! <> Great!! Stories about Skiff and Alberich are actually what I've wanted for a long time! Everyone talks about the traitor Alberich. And exactly what happened to make him choose that course? And all we know about Skiff is that he was a theif. Maybe these new stories will offer some enlightenment; it's just a pity we have to wait until they're published to read them! Long enough braid? Look, I put a week's worth of mail into one braid! ~Song ===== (a.k.a. I think they're pretty >>close, anyway, but I don't remember exactly.<< Hmm... I thought he was like really old, like over a hundred or so, and Ma'ar was making himself young... More on main characters in angst... I was checking out this website on personality types ( http://keirsey.com/ ) and came across a very intersting one that reminds me of our own Val... and others. Here are some highlights of the Healer Idealist Personality : "Healer present a seemingly tranquil, and noticiably pleasant face to the world, and though to all appearances they might seem reserved, and even shy, on the inside they are anything but reserved, having a capacity for caring not always found in other types. They care deeply-indeed, passionately-about a few special persons or a favorite cause, and their fervent aim is to bring peace and integrity to their loved ones and the world. ...to understand [them], we must understand their idealism as almost boundless and selfless, inspiring them to make extraordinary sacrifices for someone or something they believe in. The [healer] is the Prince or Princess of fairytale, the King's Champion or Defender of the Faith, like Sir Galahad or Joan of Arc. Healers are found in only 1 percent of the general population... Healers seek unity in their lives, unity of body and mind, emotions and intellect, perhaps because they are likely to have a sense of inner division threaded through their lives, which comes from their often unhappy childhood. Healers live a fantasy-filled childhood, which, unfortunately, is discouraged or even punished by many parents. In a practical-minded family, required by their parents to be sociable and industrious in concrete ways, and also given down-to-earth siblings who conform to these parental expectations, [they] come to see themselves as ugly ducklings. Other types usually shrug off parental expectations that do not fit them, but not the [Healers]. Wishing to please their parents and siblings, but not knowing quite how to do it, they try to hide their differences, believing they are bad to be so fanciful, so unlike their more solid brothers and sisters. They wonder, some of them for the rest of their lives, whether they are OK. In Owlsight Darien is anything but depressed or angst ridden he was a very normal young man who's main concerns were in the building of his new vale. If it hadn't been for the arrival of the Ghost Cat Clan the biggest worry he would have had would have been fending off the advances of local ladies and settling disputes between the various factions in the area much as he did in the first quarter of Owlknight. Now granted he had major angst in Owlflight, but that is no where to be seen in the last two books. Another main character that Misty has done is Skandranon, he maybe arrogant to a fault at times yes but definitely not depressed/suicidal/angst ridden or anything else. Misty has done characters that aren't the lan/van stereotype but those are the ones that tend to stick in the brain I think. Amy Ferret Friend Lady of All Things Missing, Especially Socks Happily engaged and soon to be an english citizen oh by the way I think one listsib mentioned that they live in Norwich? Message-ID: <99.612592b.26772f2b-+AT+-aol.com> Heyla everyone! >>Does anyone remember how old An'desha is in Winds?>> Okay. At the end of the Winds, An'desha's body was 50-60 years old. However, according to the Avatars, his mind was still at about the same place it had been when his body had been stolen, which was about 15. When the Star Eyed restored his body back to normal(almost), She also gave him his youth back. This is why, in the Storms, he's only a teenager. Firesong remarks, at some point(sorry, no textevd) that he appears to be about 17. Hope that clears up the confusion.... Now, for Brightly Burning... S P O I L E R S P A C E There's been some discussion about how old Rolan must be by the Arrows... Now, this is only speculation, but my guess is that he wasn't actually 300+ years old by then. I imagine he probably died or "went away" or whatever it is that grove born Companions do, at some point in between... I mean, don't you think someone would have noticed and mentioned something if one of the Companions was THAT old? Of course, then again, I suppose you never know with grove born... People seem to have a way of "forgetting" things around them... :) Vegetarian sheep to all! -Silverhawk ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 23:18:43 -0700 From: "L.E. Andesha was a teen (about 16 or so, this was mentioned in the Storms series) when he fled for the Hawkbrothers. Storms mentioned that Andesha would have been about the age of Firesong's parents had he not been possessed by Falconsbane. In Owlflight, Starfall is said to be in his 70's... or so. So, Andesha is a 16 y/o in his 70's. :-) Remember, the Star Eyed returned the years Falconsbane stole from him when she healed him of being a Changechild in WOF. I thought the post on the Healer Personality Types was interesting. Many people involved in healing/ serive type professions are those who had been hurt or in difficulities at one time.
