She ponders whether or not she will be wet before the day is up. "I shouldn't be," Duckie mutters to herself. "I'm NOT new, I just came back with a different nick..." Just a little note to say.... I'm Ba-ack! Duckie (formally known as Brightsong k'Shala) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send instant messages & get email alerts with Yahoo! One half is saying that without the more physical aspect being shown, the relationships seem less real, and the other half is saying that for some unknown reason, the relationships seem less real, but it's *not* the lack of physical intimacy. I agree that there's somthing missing in the relationships, and it may be the physical intimacy. I haven't read the newer books enough to be able to say that off the top of my head (I didn't like the newer ones as much as her older works), but there's something missing. I dunno if _Four and Twenty Blackbirds_ still needs spoiler space, so I'm gonna give it to ya anyway. ;) S P O I L E R S P A C E Someone (sorry for not knowing who ;) said something about wanting to see a book in which the prince or princess or hero or heroine *didn't* end up hooked up with someone in the end. Didn't that happen in _Four and Twenty Blackbirds_? Ardis and Tal never did hook up. They ended up 'just friends'. E N D S P O I L E R Well, I suppose I'll wander back into lurkdom, although I'm gonna try to post more often ;) Songwind k'Treva a/k/a Alinea Songwind a/k/a Ferret http://www.geocities.com/alsongwind/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? On to the reason for my de-lurking. I've been following the debate on the romance in Lackey's books and it peaked my interest. I started out with her books by reading the Griffen series first, and then continued in chronological order to owlsight (no haven't read owlknight..to cheap to buy hardback besides I have everything else in paper back) Not realizing until I joined this list that the winds books were actually written first. So, when I got to winds I thought Lackey had changed her style to be more adult..scene with Kris and Tailia... which I didn't mind. Then when it switched back to less adult scenes I thought she had reverted. Now I realized that her style actually changed from being adult to more young adult. Which is okay, but I like others feel that something is missing. I think that the love scenes add to the intamacy of the characters relationships and make it more real. The scene does not need to contain anything hardcore...that just makes it cheesey... but as long as I am remembering the winds scene correctly it made the relationship more... instead of just see thoughts and feelings there was something tangeble. Anyway that is my $.02 Later list sibs sorry haven't thought of a cool nick name yet In a message dated 7/6/00 6:45:47 PM Pacific Daylight Time, alsongwind-+AT+-yahoo.com writes: << I was reading the arguement about sex in Misty's newer books, and it seems to me that both sides are almost saying the same thing, but it's not making sense.
