     For the mages themselves, it's a horrible
feeling. When Quenten enters Valdemar with Kero and
the Skybolts, he soon has to leave to avoid being
driven mad. It is a little curious, though, that no
mage recognised the vrondi as the beings that were
watching them, as Truth Spell seems to be fairly
universal. Actually, could that be how Hulda was able
to operate as a mage (re certain scenes in AotQ)
within Valdemar?

Either Hulda could act because she was around the heralds constantly (and
that's what the vrondi were supposed to do... let the heralds know... but
the heralds couldn't hear them) or she assumed that she was always being
watched and was used to it.

For those out there who read Misty's non-Valdemar books I discovered that a 
new book will be out in Jan 2001 about Eric & co. It is called 'Beyond 
World's End' and if you wasnt to read the 1st 3 chapters (or just want to 
get a quick idea of what it about*s*) goto www.baen.com

Actually, IIRC, the other characters figured out that
the reason that Hulda was able to remain undetected in
Valdemar for so long was that she DIDN'T operate as a
mage there.  She never called on the Powers Arcane,
just used her knowledge of potions and such to get
what she needed (likethe old nurse who was very
befuddled after her stroke).  And all she needed was
the power of storytelling to accomplish what she was
trying for with Elspeth.  Hence, the vrondi would
never had noticed her.

What is Misty doing to Eric, Kory, and Beth?! What's
with Eric going off on his own, and Kory and Beth
becoming a couple?! That's not right! I am NOT happy.
<grrrr> Eric, Kory, and Beth are a triumverate, they
should not be split up. And Eric is going to New York
to teach at...Julliard? Oh, please, that's not him!
