Could I get a Councilor of Mist to help me out? (or anyone really *g*) Thanks! RE: Going to Baen to read the first three chapters of "Beyond Worlds End" a ML/Rosemary Edgehill collaboration... I have to admit that I debated if I should do this or not. I knew that only having access to the first three chapters would be a kind of torture - to know just enough of what was happening but to have to wait months to find out the resolution would drive me batty. I did it anyway... Sooo..... now that I'm pondering daily what will happen next, I'm going to take some time to respond to, um, was it Reanna?, who had a small vent about the first chapter. <<<<>>>>>> <<<<>>>>>> S P O I L E R S P A C E Beyond World's End 1 S T 3 C H A P T E R S Hope that's enough, since the last time when I put in just returns it ended up being only one line long! .... I thought the reasons that Eric drifted apart from Kory and Beth were well explained and justified. It's seldom in a relationship between two people that things last forever - adding a third person to the mix inheritly (I probably spelled that incorrectly) makes it even harder for the relationship(s) to last. Now, I'm not going to say it's absolutely impossible for a threesome to last "forever" - but IMNSHO it probably is pretty darn hard for that to happen. Please remember to put in spoiler space if you respond to this!!!!!!! I repeat, NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!! Three words: Buy them all. First, Sword of Ice. There are a LOT of great stories in there. It's not written by Misty herself but, IRC, it is edited by her. It's a collection of stories written by other authors based on the Valdemar world. Personally, I loved the book. I wish I could tell you more about them but you'll find stories about Vanyel that you won't find elsewhere, a couple of other historical stories, some about Karse. Definitely buy it. The other three are also excellent stories. Oathbound and Oathbreakers are what is called the Vows and Honor duology. The first is a compilation of stories about Tarma and Kethry who you meet briefly in By The Sword, the story of Kerowyn. Oathblood is a collection of further stories about these same two that were published in various magazines, etc. All excellent reads, IMO. Vows and Honor(Oathbound & Oathbreakers) is about Kerowyn's grandmother and teacher. I think they are well worth buying(I have 2 copies each.) Oathblood is an anthology with some oathbound, some oathbreakers, and some Sword & Sorceress. I don't remember if there is any original material in it. I don't think that has any spoilers. Hope that helps. Message-ID: <20163101467621-+AT+-bookzone.com> Hi Barbara, I have read all 4 of the books you are interested in and they are all Wonderful! Sword of Ice is book of short stories about characters throughout Valdemar and the surrounding lands, it is good book to read if you have the experience of the other Valdemar books (such as the Magic series, Oath series, By the Sword, & Queen's Own series). A lot of the stories relate in some way to the other books. I would read the Oath series first to give you more background on so many key elements to all the other Valdemar books as well as Sword of Ice. The Oath series are about a true bonded friendship as well as 2 women fighting many great obstacles and surviving together! Sorry if my review is prejudice but I feel very book that I've read by Mercedes is WONDERFUL! I repeat, NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!! Oathbound, Oathbreakers, and Oathblood is a fabulous read. I have read and re-read all of these books. The drawback to Oathbound is that it is a bit episodic and has some time that essentially disappears. Some people have found that rather annoying. I didn't have a problem with it though. Oathbreakers is a great book. :) Oathblood is the group of short stories that showed up in the Sword and Sorceress series about Tarma and Kethry. So, some of the stories are redundant. But... there are some new ones that give a new insight to the post-adventuring lives of Tarma/Kethry and co. I read Sword of Ice and I was underwhelmed. I didn't get any reaction to the book at all... which is generally a bad thing. I was a little bored by it.
