(That's fudged; if anyone has the precise wording I'd be glad to be corrected.) ~~ Does *everything in my life have to come back to haunt me and *talk in my head?!~~ I've got that one memorized, :). Also, pieces out of Winds when Rris is thirsty for knowlegde. There are several, but I like "Knowledge is good. History is better. Tell me! Tell me all!" And, a discussion at the end of Winds about the siege engine that isn't supposed to work, do you know the one I mean? And yet another Winds, a discussion on tactics in which Kero tells Elspeth to name every weapon in the room. "Your breath, Firesong's hair, and that *awful* tea!" Monarch's Own I don't think Rolan could have disowned Talia. It would be very cruel in her moment of need, and cruelty is not a Companion's nature. He would have known that she wasn't dead and put on the search. In the event that they still couldn't find the still-living Monarch's Own, I think 1)A highly placed Herald would fill in indefinatly. 2)Rolan would Choose again without giving up Talia. 3)Another Grove-born would come along in the time of need. It's happened. I really find the song 'The Leslac Version' at the end of Oathbreakers quite funny. There are to many other real funny moments in the books to really name a favorite, but I have to agree with that person who found that Ta'leydras joke Elspeth told Darkwind to get him to respond. When I read that I nearly choked. Now the request... Recently one of my on-line friends had his first book published. It's called 'Sparrow's Flight' its by Curtis Craddock. (He is also a pretty good artist) It has gotten some good reviews and I just ordered it, and I can't wait to get it so I can read it. I'm just asking you to check it out, not buy it, unless you really want to, which I hope you do. Of course I also hope that it is a good read and I don't hear the same things said about it that I have heard about 'Pay thee not...'. VALDERMAR is a country (Like France) and VELGARTH is probably the world(like earth) but it could just ba a continent (like Europe). The reason why they are probably called the Velgarth books is that some novesl (eg: GRYPHONS, By the Sword and OATH...) are not set in valdemar but other countries/times Hope this helps Lisa T _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. First off - welcome to the Mercedes Lackey mailing list, and now the answer to your question: Valdemar is a country in the world of Velgarth, so when people refer to Valdemar the refer to a specific country, while when they say Velgarth they talk about all the countriues (Valdemar, Karse etc). Well, back to lurking. Sheep flavoured danish, or danish flavoured sheep to all of you.
