No disrespect for Ms. Lee's art, I to think that this is my favorite depiction of Van. The LHM series is still my favorite of all of the Valdemar books. I have re-read the set many, many times. It's one of my "read to feel good" books. Erik. Message-ID: A few various replies/thoughts. Vanyel explains to Stefen at the end of Magic's Price that they get some choices; they can go on to the Havens, or they can come back. He doesn't expressly state that they can come back either as Heralds or as Companions, and there is at some point a discussion about how people can come back as hertasi or kyree, or vice versa. Van also tells Stefen that he was given a third option, because he was the *only* Herald-Mage at that point, and that Stef would get the same option if he fulfilled certain expectations in his lifetime. We haven't heard about anyone else who came back the way that Van and Stef and Yfandes did. Van, Stefen, and Yfandes hung out in Sorrows until the last book of the Mage Storms. Now, according to Misty, they are 'in Bermuda' and will probably not be reappearing anytime in the forseeable future. Eldan in Arrows: It probably is Eldan at the Herald party, telling a story. The storyteller is noted as having a streak of white hair at each temple, which Eldan has. Eldan also mentions to Kero in By The Sword that he 'got to know a little bit called Selenay pretty well' and is therefore on a first-name basis with her--at the party in Arrows, Selenay is sitting with the storyteller with her head on his shoulders. That's his only appearance, though, and he's not named. And as to whether or not he and Kero are lifebonded: of course not. :) Zha'hai'allav'a, Raven Darkblade and Mor the raven, Holy Hand of the Goddess of Elves, Member of the Mistic Circle, Webmaster of the Circle of Stone, Knight and Founding Member of the Order of Unsung Heroes; http://www.angelfire.com/ky/Ashke/ - The Labyrinth _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Brightly Burning, the story of Lavan Firestorm is available in bookstores, in many libraries, and one copy is in my own personal library. Far from being canceled. =) Not much else to say, but that I'm re-reading By the Sword, which is falling apart. I think I need a new copy. Actually.. I think there was a rumor that that affect some time back. It may be still floating about, but it didn't happen. Also, wasn't there another series (Alberich maybe?) that she was going to do before someone talked her into doing the "following a Herald through the Collegium" series instead?
