It's been a long time since I've read AotQ and I don't have the book with me, but I think it might address this issue. It was always my impression that the Companion/Herald bond continued after death, as it is a bonding of souls, but without hard evidence either way it's a difficult call. Thank you Cennydd for the added incentive to never, ever transgress against list ettiquette. My condolences to the newest members of the Order of Drifting Ashes. It's snowing here. In October. It's going to be an interesting (and hopefully fun) winter. Ambermoon Singer of Fire Royal Defender of the Brat __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Actually, that would be Magic's Promise, when Herald Lores beat Tashir's Ghost because he believed that Ghost was a demon in Companion form. I doubt a Chosen Herald would ever beat their own Companion, whether or not they were of sound mind. Just two pennies in the well of info. Message-ID: <23.2c45234.272ddfc4-+AT+-aol.com> Hi Everyone, I have recently subscribed to the list. So I hope that I'm not asking a question that has been addressed in the past. I have read a lot of SF authors, and I have found quite a few of them on audiocassette. Can anyone tell me if Mercedes Lackey books about Valdomar are on tape. I have read all of the Velgarth series at least a couple times. I love Misty's books. I just started rereading "By The Sword" and since the list was talking about magic I found a quote that I think tells a little something about magic. This is something Tarma is thinking. "Those Hawkbrothers - they've got secrets of magic even Kethry and the other Adepts don't know." Well, that's my little output for awhile as I will now probably go back into lurking.
