Got to disagree, ever seen a domestic moggy (mongrel cat) chase a large dog up the road? The cat my parents had used to sit on the cat net on the end of my pram and chased off a starving Alsatian / German Shephard that was going for her "kitten" (me). I guess the point I'm making is that a small harmless looking animal that packs an out of proportion punch is pretty useful. Can get into buildings, is ignored most of the time, flexible and can get out of trouble, expected to come and go for no apparent reason so even if noticed wouldn't attract that inappropriate attention, all thats needed is a bit more brainpower. Maybe this is why I like Karal so much, its really Altra that I've fallen for, must admit I think I prefer Firecats to Companions, storm of disagreement now occurs. ---------------------- Liz Hoffman E.G.Hoffman-+AT+-soton.ac.uk savil1-+AT+-yahoo.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jan 2001 15:05:12 -0500 (EST) From: Cariad To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Passing the friendship ring Message-ID: <382455187.979070712881.JavaMail.root-+AT+-web444-ec.mail.com> ***FLUFF ALERT*** ::Cariad wanders into the Hall of Mist. She sets down her cherished copy of 'A History of Western Society', and notices the Friendship Ring glinting on her hand. She smiles to herself, knowing it's time to pass it on, and begins to search for Meg, Councilor of Mist. Spotting Meg, Cariad smiles, and holds out the ring. She speaks.:: "This is for you, Meg, to bring a bright spot into your day and to reward your incredible patience to put up with Daytime TV -- and for the patience to read only one chapter of a Misty book a day!" ::Her task completed, she picks up 'A History of Western Society' again, and sets off to find a comfy place to read about the rise of facism...:: wind to thy wings, list-sibs! ~Cariad [wannabe goddess of European History] ----------------------------------------------- FREE! He advises and teaches Tarma and later Kerowyn; he is able to go pretty much anywhere they go; he is able to act defensively and aggressively when necessary. I don't recall Companions spying for their Heralds in the same way that Waarl did for Tarma and Kethry, but perhaps "Oathbreaker" was a special case. On the other hand, if transportation is also a necessary duty of a Companion, you could do worse than a Companion like K.I.T.T. Or am I the only one that remembers "Knight Rider" (and David Hasselhoff before Baywatch)? In one of my earlier posts, I had mentioned that I like the idea of cats more than horses or dogs as Real-World-Type Companions (yes, yes, I know, blasphemy! But, cats like me a heck of a lot better than any horse has!). However, I would make an exception for a kyree. For the reasons stated above, but also, didn't he also have the ability to make himself look smaller, more like a housepet? I like that idea... Could look big and menacing, or smaller and less threatening, based on the situation... hmmm... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > On the other hand, if transportation is also a > necessary duty of a Companion, you could do worse than a Companion like K.I.T.T. Or am I the > only one that remembers "Knight Rider" (and David > Hasselhoff before Baywatch)? Okay, I have to admit it... One of my prized possessions is a picture of me sitting in one of the K.I.T.T.'s at one of our local malls. They had been doing a promo tour, and I about died when I found out it was there, so of course I had to sit in it and check it out... lol ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, one other note about my life... lol I finally got to go to the "Kevin Barry's" that Misty uses as a setting in "Born To Run". Very nice place, right on River Street in Savannah, Georgia... Thought I'd mention that... Of course, my friends thought I was nuts 'cause I 'bout dragged them into there... lol ===== ---<---<---<----+AT+- Li'nia Stormdancer -+AT+---->--->--->--- Peon to the Powers That Be, Goddess of All Things Possessed, & Caretaker of the Arena of Discussion and Dissention __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
