Message-ID: <00bb01ab39ac$ba3d7c80$81422cc8-+AT+-alex> Hy List-persons (I don't presume to call you 'List-sibs' since I'm new to this list and you haven't allowed me to do so. Maybe in the future ;) ) I read the Valdemar-series a while ago and came accross some things that remind me of my Japanese clases. 1. 'nya' is how Japanese write the sound cats make, the same way we occidentals write 'miau'. Nyara is a feline changechild... 2. Japanese use to the sufix 'jin' to define someone's nationality. I'm Venezuelian, so in Japanese I would be 'Venezuela-jin'. Now there are the Shina-in the people of the Prairies and the Kalenda-in... (Taledras don't cound because taledras doesn't define where they live but meands 'Hawkbrothers'.) 3. The Shinain word for 'yes' is 'hai'. The Japanese word for 'yes' is also 'hai'. As Skif said, 3 is conspiracy... so has anyone found other such things in her other books (I haven't read anything besides the Valdemar and the Elvenbane series), or know something about it? Molly Pulls something from behind her back. Ahhh.... It is a big bucket full of water! Sploosh! Welcome the list! You are now an official list-sib. Someone will offer you some nice fluffy sheep shaped towels. Also, I was wondering if anyone remembered a while back ago when we had bond-birds available. Does anyone else remember that? It was a couple of years ago. I was wondering what happened to that. It was really cool. Okay, now I need an Ob-Misty so okay, let me put my word in for the Misty Character I would most like to meet. I would love to meet D.D. from When the Bough Breaks. She was just SO cool. Okay, I am off to go do some beautiful figure skating. *Starshadow hears some snickering coming from the corner* Okay, Lightsong, so beautiful may not bee the exact word I would use, but whatever. *Starshadow throws a sheep at Lightsong* WTTW, and coconut flavored sheep for all, Starshadow* she'enedra to Lightsong Royal Defender of the Brat _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 00:26:59 From: "Rebecca McAllister" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Misty and the Japanese language... You don't really need permission to call us list sibs, but if that is what you want then, " I would consider it a great compliment if you would call us your list sibs."

I guess mainly cause it was her story which made me fall in love with Misty books. I guess after that I'd really like to meet Vanyel and Lendel/Stef. I just think that they'd be cool to meet....although I'd rather meet them as 'real' people not ghosts. And since I think you've already been splooshed by our List-Sib with the Enchanted Bucket (you know who you are!), you've definetely been welcomed!
