Hmmm....and then you have the whole mystery about the Star-Eyed, Vkandis, the Twins, and all the other dieties...and whether or not they are truly seperate dieties or different faces of the same two Gods. I would suspect that, if the latter were true, a benign diety would not want his/her subjects to fight each other even if they aren't aware that they follow the same religious path. Just a thought... Of course, if this is a motivation for the "no praying for victory" policy, the policy is less altruistic and noble than it appears at first glance. But we also have to keep in mind that the Companions are Guardian Spirits, probably sent from some diety or other in the first place (the Twins, IIRC). They would also want to keep Valdemar from making some sort of supernatural faux pas. Well here's a few off the top of my head... 1)"Wheels of Fire" leads directly into "Chrome Circle"(not really a cross-series, since both books were part of SERRAted Edge, but the main characters were all different...) 2)Tannim mentions Di Tregarde by name in "Chrome Circle" pg.3. He mentions her in "Born to Run", but not by name, pg. 57. 3)In the "Knight" books, Eric or Kory (can't remember which!) mentions that there were some elves back East who'd taken up car racing as their industry... Hence, Tannim and his friends. 4)Don't know if this is technically a cross over, but BTS managed to connect a few series. In this book the Oath books were connected with the Valedemar books (from the Elspeth series on...) Prior to that, though, Valdemar had a cameo in "OathBreaker"... And I don't know if that was when Misty decided to have the two series mesh into one or not. Well, that's all I can remember right now! lol I happened to have the Tannim books with me, so I could quote those, but the others are from memory. I'm sure there's others, though... ===== ---<---<---<----+AT+- Li'nia Stormdancer -+AT+---->--->--->--- Peon to the Powers That Be, Goddess of All Things Possessed, & Caretaker of the Arena of Discussion and Dissention __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? While I can't recall the exact title that it was, there was a point where Eric had been busing on a corner, and three strangers came up to either chat or listen to him. It was in Kinght of Ghosts and Shadows - some people from "Okie" came to listen to Eric - and one of them was a lady called "Misty" :) Also, in Chrome Circle Tannim mentions something about Elves in LA/San Fran being in trouble and humans helping them out (it's when he's musing about the events with Joe no texted here!) I didn't think she should have started the story at another point, I just think the way it was done was not effective. It was too abrupt, and while reading the second chapter with Amberdrake I unfortunately found myself wondering why I cared, something that does not happen often with Misty's books. I'm not really sure how it should have been done, just that this did not quite work. Point conceded about the Haighlei with regards to the Tayledras; I just found the Haighlei exceedingly foreign, unlike how I perceived the Tayledras and Shin'a'in (and Kaled'a'in, for that matter). I suppose it's just me, though, because logically it doesn't seem to bear out. Good luck to all those dealing with snow in Kent and other places, and to those dealing with our 17 inches here in Mass. It's where Tannim starts explaining why he's back in Oklahoma, and mentions Alinor Peredon, the main char in "Wheels of Fire". Yes, it drifted a bit from the standard story line that Misty used in the other two, but it was still good. I had to keep reading to figure out what had caused blade and Tad to crash. Then when Skan and Drake, old farts as they were, got dragged out to save their kids it was great. As I recall, pretty darn funny. I believe Misty was just trying to move a long the time line and start a new generation, e.g., tad and blade, but that, that generation can learn something from the previous one. I will admit though, that it was somewhat anticlimactic, but how much more of a climax can you expect after the destruction from the first book. You can't go much higher.
