I think it's the same Idea, Lavan is being forced down a path he doesn't want to go down, just like Vanyel, Lavan's gift is released under strenous condintions, just like Vanyel. . . .both get chosen AFTER their gifts crop up. . . .ANYWAYS I agree, they are totally alike execept for the being gay thing. . .but then again they're life bonds (vanyel first to Tylendal, later to Stefen, and Lavan to his Companion Kalira) are concidered rare and a littl strange, not the fact that Van's gay, but because he lifebonded twice in one lifetime. . .

Hi, I'm Rachel. (de-lurking to join the roll call)  
I'm 16 and I live in North-eastern Indiana.  I started
reading the Owl books a few years ago and I got
hooked.  I have all the published Velgarth series  (I
think) and many of her other books.  I also like
Christopher Stasheff, J.R.R. Tolkein, Tamora Pierce,
and Anne McCafferry, among others (lots of others).  I
am an aspiring writer, but I still have a long way to
go :)  I work in the local library, but we only have
the first Owl book, the one I first read, and the Lark
and the Wren (Bardic something).  I think that's all.
