Nope, sorry. If the consort of the reigning monarch is Chosen, as Daren is, then they are co-rulers and are both King and Queen. Or so I gathered. :) I think he just hasn't been crowned yet. Maybe he has to wait until he gets his whites? Kero's going to the collegium so it only makes sense that Daren would be taking classes too. $.02! Two things. 1) Randale and Shavri weren't married, so she would not be a candidate for queening. 2) The Crown Prince in BTS was the son of co-rulers, and I think there was some hint that they had not been the only ones. In any case, since Selenay was already the ruling queen when she married Daren and since Valdemar seems to have a tradition of allowing ruling queens, there would be no reason for her to hand over her crown to Daren or even to share it. And there are any number of good diplomatic and internal reasons for not doing it. Despite the reference to doodit's parents, I imagine that most of the King/Queen pairs in Valdemar's history were the traditional sort: a King by right of birth and his wife, who would be Queen by marriage. This led to the only period in British history when we have had a female heir apparent, as after the death of Mary II in 1694, Anne would not be pre-empted from the succession even if William III had any children. -- Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search http://www.mersenne.org/prime.htm Brett Paul Dunbar ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 2580 **********************************
