MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 2581 Topics covered in this issue include: 1) monarchs by "Hill, Susan" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 14:21:09 -0700 From: "Hill, Susan" To: "'mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk'" Subject: monarchs Message-ID: <872A9D7CC09CD11188CE00805FBB042E05C006EA-+AT+-emswwc7.weyer.com> I was always a little confused about the Co-Consort status... But we see it mentioned in Arrows when talking about Elspeth's offer from Hardorn... And Shavri bitches about it too - both with respect to her avoidance of the throne and Jisa's future queenship once she gets choosen... Now - I have a question - we talk about lifebonds and companion bonds - and we see that very seldom does a partner outlive the other.... See Keren, Vanyel, etc... Stefen, I think was an exception since he got to say "Good bye" or more appropriately "See you later" - I also think his soul had quite a bit to atone for after killing all those people when he was Tylendel, but I digress... What happens to life bonded monarchs when one dies? Somewhere in Arrows, I think it says Seleney's parents were life bonded, right? (or was it her grand parents?) We know Seleney's father was taken out by an assassin in the Tedrel wars courtesy of Orthallen, but what about her mother???? There's absolutely NO mention of her mother... What it up with THAT?? You would think that she would mention her own mother when it comes to her lack of maternal skills with Elspeth... So what makes one "left over" lifebonded stay alive and one not? Duty? Its obviously not a companion, since Keren and Vanyel would have died had someone not interceded... -S ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 2581 **********************************
