My only input towards the common occurance of such a "rare thing" is maybe the people in her novels are already extraordinary people in extraordinary circumstances which leads to a higher occurance of this phenomenon of lifebonding. Kinda like these people are already special, so something unusual or rare occuring to them is more likely than with the general populace. I think that in Arrows, it is mentioned that Lifebonding is more common among Heralds then with normal people. I don't have any textevd to back that up though. Anyhow, since most of the stories are about Heralds, that my povide a good explenation. However, all seemed to work out rather nicely. I Wouldn't mind seeing one that wasn't so neatly tied with a bow on top. That is just my .02 though. However, stories have to be about special people. The bookworthy people tend to have great abilities, great sorrows, and great loves. They perform so many important functions that the bonds may be heaven-sent as needed to keep them sane. Also, the gathering of Heralds makes for more such bonds. Count the lifebonded "average Joes." In the one Winds book she's talking to someone(I don't remember who)because of the fact that they weren't lifebonded and the someone told her that lifebonds occur because of a need to keep each other balanced especially if they have a Gift that could cause a lot of damage if left unchecked. Because without their lifebonded they could lose control(such as Lavan and Kalira) or they have such volatile personalities that they could become suicidal and such. This person told her that it was based upon a need and a need doesn't always involve love and the person told her that she and Darkwind had the love thing going for them. I hope I made some sense. I apologize for being picky. *Grin* ~Angie;) "~*~ Ciara ~*~" wrote: OKAY, I have a very stupid question about Lifebonds. *ahem, gets on podum* In every single one of Misty's books, isn't it stressed that Lifebonds are "rare and unusal" things? I think I remember Elspeth in one of the MageWinds(?) books expressing envy over lifebonds... In other words, that she and Darkwind aren't lifebonded, just in love. But yes, there do seem to be an extraordinary amount of lifebonded, esp. in Selenay's reign. --Haemi __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
