If you're in Florida or Italy, this could be a problem. I'm just south of the Canadian border, so snow this late is not unheard of. It would be a bit of a problem if the Circle knew it was Vanyel, since they would probably think the end of the world was coming. Add that to the list of things to see. But also, how would you bring Vanyel's dignity to a singing Companion? :) Bright tomorrows all, and godspeed and wings to all runners, Sara Crazy Freshman (not for much longer, yay) Duct tape is like the Force: it has light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? In addition, when the gryphon ambassadors show up in Valdemar, while people are surprised, no one seems horrified. My assumption was that griffons and gryphons are two totally different species. The idea that they are makaar is very interesting. Cheers! Please pardon the mispelled names that follow. I do not have the books before me. Vanyel, upon death at the pass was given a choice, he could either go to the Havens and accept his well earned and overdue rest OR he could stay and continue to protect the land that he loved. He chose to stay and his spirit along with that of his companion watched over the Forest of Sorrows. Eventually Stefen (which I beleive I have mispelled) was allowed to join him in his task. Thier spirits continued to watch over Valadmer. In the Arrows of the Queen trilogy they both protected Talia and nearly strike her down when her mindpowers go rogue, only to be stopped my her companion standing for her. The protection that Vanyel extends to Valamar includes the Virogi, the spirit eyes that seek out those with power who would do evil. This protection finally expires I believe if in the Storm series. However I do not recall any mention of Vanyel's spirit leaving at that time. From what I can recall, his spirit and those of his companions were still in the Forsest of Sorrows. mttz ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 2596 **********************************
