The exceptions would be people with lifebonds or something comparably extraordinary to hold them. The breaking of that major bond would probably drive a Herald to suicide immediately, which would be easy and possibly unnoticed if the Companion was killed in conflict. What would happen to a Herald without a Companion? "Forget it and go back to farming"? The Herald would probably think that. I wonder if the Herald could be Chosen again by another Companion if he was needed? I'd like to see that in a book. Sara Psycho Sophomore <\__~ The word can't is can and not put together. The ' takes place of the "no" in not. So does this mean if I want to say "no" all I have to do is put a ' instead? I do have to admit that in the Pern books, the dragon always seems to go 'between' after the death of their bonded, and of course there's the case of Moreta. She died while on another dragon since her's was so tired. Afterwards, her own dragon and the other dragon's rider went 'between' together. However, there is the case of Lord Jaxom's warder (can't remember his name, sorry! I think it's Lytol, though) living the rest of his life without his dragon. He was extrememly emotionally scarred, though. We don't see any circumstances of the Herald surviving any longer than a few hours after the death of their Companion. When the Herald dies (as in the case of Jadus), the Companion just goes to a quiet corner of the Field and dies peacefully... I don't think either the Companion or the Herald is ever ready to live without that bond once it's formed. Although, the Companion may have an easier transition, since they've already done this before... Hmmm... That's just IMOHO, though... ===== ---<---<---<----+AT+- Li'nia Stormdancer -+AT+---->--->--->--- Peon to the Powers That Be, Goddess of All Things Possessed, & Caretaker of the Arena of Discussion and Dissention __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? But they also didn't make it sound like something that happens all the time. Jadus is also the *only* Herald I can remember reading about that dies of old age and not on duty. Wasn't there a reference somewhere in one of Talia's beginning classes about how most Heralds die in the line of duty? Where she asked what had happened to Vanyel? I don't own the book anymore or I would look it up myself. It stars (pardon my slaughtering of their names) Anjelica Huston and Juliann Margailes (the chick on ER) They showed the first part of two. It's going to be shown twice more, today, and the screenplay is fairly similar to the novel. ___________________________________________________ GO.com Mail Get Your Free, Private E-mail at http://mail.go.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 22:26:57 -0700 (PDT) From: Brentie To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: [Misty web site]and Mistyakes Message-ID: <20010716052657.16102.qmail-+AT+-web4103.mail.yahoo.com> about the mp3's i myself would never buy one of misties cd's im not a big fan of that kinda music but i am a big fan of misty so what it comes down to is would misty rather have me not listen to her lyrics at all oooooorrrrrrr haveme listen to them but not get royalties for it ===== Brent Bloomfield http://www.geocities.com/ssjgohanjr __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Personaly I LOVE the music but it would cost me a small fortune to attempt to even get ONE of her CD's. Only way I have of hearing anything off the CD's was to download the MP3's. I would adore to find a cheap way to own the CD's though. Costs me enough just to get her books now though... ===== Zhai'hellava ~Silvershadow~ Chocobo of Legend Wielder of the Sacred SPOON __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I think I only saw two major changes from the book. I won't go into details for those who haven't seen it yet. Tonight is part 2, and for those who missed part 1 TNT is running the whole thing on Friday night starting at 8p.m. EDT. I'm taping that one to catch the scene I missed doing laundry and feeding Hugo.
