A good creation myth is really hard to create out of whole cloth; & I would assume that each set of god would have thier own versions of such a myth. Otherwise you would get into one god/dess above the rest, which doesn't realy seem the point that she is trying to make whenever she talks about religion. The phrase "There is no one true way" really occurs far too often for that. My $0.02 anyway. Which comes back to a premise of...for Velgarth, is there only 2 actual dieties that just take on different faces for different people? Valdemar has the twins, Kethry talked about the faces of her Goddess, we have Vkandis and the Star-Eyed, not to mention the God of that nation to the...north? Starts with an I?...anywho, a creation myth for Velgarth, if it were written, would probably reveal a LOT more about this particular mystery. This is one that I'd be interested to see... Especially comparisons between the different cultures. For example, I really got the feeling that the Goddess of the Shin'a'in was the missing female companion to the Karse Sun-God. (She was mentioned briefly in Mage Storms? By Karal?) I kind of theorized that she hung around Karse, got bored, heard the call for help from the Kal'a'din after the cataclysm and took off for those parts of the world. And while I could see avoiding the creation myths (even though every culture has them) I'd be very interested in them as they pertain to the deities of Velgarth. >A good creation myth is really hard to create out of >whole cloth; & I would assume that each set of god >would have thier own versions of such a myth. Actually I've noticed that a LOT of the creation myths (including Science's) that I've read are similar to a theme... So lumping two or more and then changing some details might not be that hard. Especially for a person who already is a story teller (especially one that's adapted other stories / myths) Matt ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2001 21:45:58 From: "Layla Voll" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: RE: Creation myths Message-ID: Robert Martin writes: >Which comes back to a premise of...for Velgarth, is there only 2 actual >dieties that just take on different faces for different people?
