I think it's a very cool idea, but can you imagine poor Lavan's reaction (and everyone else's) if she did go ahead and call herself Gala? "Great, my Companion is the only one legendarily famous for goofing up her Choosing." It also occurs to me that if Kalira and Lavan are lifebonded, that would be yet another reason for her not to reincarnate with Vanyel, et al. If I understand lifebonds correctly, they continue on from reincarnation to reincarnation, so she really wouldn't want to be stuck up in a bunch of trees miles and miles away from anywhere her lifebonded was likely to be reincarnated.
