Re the Free Bards series - I enjoyed the first book with Rune, but I couldn't seem to get into the others! I would love to read them again, but the library I belong to in the UK doesn't seem to have many Misty books, and the ones they do have don't connect - one Arrows book, one Mage storms book, one Owl book! My mind has gone > completely blank! After reading that chapter (which doesn't say) I would think that Skiif would be "older than some, younger than most" probably less than 10 years old. There is mention that he is one of the older children in school, but it doesn't give enough info about how old the children generally are before they have to give up school.
