I would like to add that even if it is frustrating because of busy signals lines and overflow at the blood banks just be patient because they still need as many donors as possible even if it may not seem so. I know that it has been said many times before but if you are eligable you have to give blood. It will save a life as cheesy as that sounds. All I can say is the Red Cross is a good place to start. You can also check with your local churches and schools. Here in southeast Iowa that is all they have had on the radio all day. Either news about the attacks or where to go to lend a hand. My prayers go out to all who even had the remotest connection to this tragedy. I, too, work in Manhattan, slightly farther north of the World Trade Towers (on Canal Street, if you know New York). Our windows face south, and so we watched the whole horrifying thing. My parents live in DC, and my father could see the Pentagon from their dining room. My poor brother had a rather harrowing morning trying (ultimately successfully) to get calls through to DC and New York. The good wishes are indeed appreciated. Words cannot express how I felt when I was watching the news yesterday, and I cannot imagine how those (either directly or indirectly) involved are feeling right now (or then). My deepest sympathies and my prayers go out to them. Thankfully for myself, we were able to get a hold of my only relatives that might have been involved, and determined that they had postponed their flight from Boston to L.A. to later in the week... Unfortunately for so many others, they didn't have any kind of opportunities like that, and became the victims of the worst kind of beings on the planet. I don't really even want to use the word "people" for them, as I consider myself (and you) as "people", and these beings are NOTHING like us, and don't deserve to breathe our air or walk on our ground. This has made us all feel so helpless and confused, and that is NOT how the military likes to feel... When Timothy McVeigh was persecuted, we as a nation did not attack every man that fit his description. Nor did we lock up students after the various shootings and bombings occured.
