SKIF is mentioned a lot in Talia's story, but not the other way around. There was, however, a lot of discussion about *Talamir* being in Takes a Thief, Talamir being the Queen's Own before Talia. By the way, for anyone who might still care: the Monarch's Own before Talamir is spelled Keighvin. This comes from p. 173 of "Arrow's Flight," when Kris and Talia are snowed in and Kris is discussing how they are going to have to make up their own training to get Talia's Gift under control. Kris says: "I can't think of another Queen's Own in living memory that has had as powerful a Gift as yours.... Talamir certainly didn't have it--nor Keighvin before him." I have no idea how expensive that would be to obtain. We were considering a self print run of Larry's artwork; especially those pieces that had appeared in books. I think the idea was dropped, since we were unsure how to go about it, what sort of cost and scale there would be, and of course whether there was any interest - would we be sitting with a bunch of calenders at the end of the year? Much as we love to please the fans, if it wasn't financially viable, we'd be somewhat disinclined to do it. Comments? Ideas? Paul --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. However, those of you that have read the book will find that Thief finishes fractionally earlier than this, and this meeting is not actually the finishing point. Misty basically reached a good climax and decided to stop there! No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy, right? In other words, the actual production is not always according to original plan. Ah well, people are seeming to like Thief on the whole. You can't please all of the people all of the time of course, but the new york times bestseller list was nice. Paul --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I have never been disapointed with Jodi Lee's interpretation of Valdemar in her cover art, and Jodi Lee, in my opinion is THE best fantasy artist who's work I've ever seen. My advice for a Valdemar calendar is get Jodi Lee to do it, even if it is expensive. She's amazing, and the calendar would sell... probably even to people who DON'T read Misty! Anyway, that's my humble advice. :) Take a Thief S P O I L E R S P A C E I can't believe Kris showed up, alive and still in Grays... I guess I should have expected it, but it was just so happy and sad at the same time to read something new about him. BTW, does anyone remember the name of the Companion who chose Jisa? Just trying to get the MO Companion thing straight with the new info from Take a Thief. :) Wierd soy protein vegetarian sheep to all! That would be nice, too. I like the idea of Jody Lee's artwork, but I love Larry's stuff as well. > interest - would we be sitting with a bunch of calenders at the end of the > year? Ideas? hmm.. What about running a preorder calendar through firebird, and advertising it on the lists, & in QO and such? That way, you could know what the response would be, and they definately wouldn't be sitting around at the end of the year. Then, the next year, if you guys felt it was worth it, you could do another run, either pre-order, or just selling them. Blessings- Kristy now I'm hoping for a calender.. :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2001 08:12:38 EST From: Ilaria1431-+AT+-aol.com To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Something I would like to see Message-ID: <60.16cf3e74.29251946-+AT+-aol.com> Forgive the one liner, but I would LOVE to have a calendar with Jody Lee's artwork!!!!
