Message-ID: <20011218173606.93567.qmail-+AT+-web14910.mail.yahoo.com> Greetings and salutations! Hello everyone. I'm new to this list and this is actually my first post. I've been into Misty's work for years, and just finished collecting all the Valdemar books last Christmas.... or so I thought.... What I'm wondering is if Spirits White as Lightning is one of the Valdemar books or if it's some other series? Valdemar is the only series I've read, though I have managed to read the whole thing at least twice. My other question - is the Valdemar Companion out in paperback yet? And - for anyone who knows David Eddings - is it anything like the Rivan Codex? ===== Zhai'helleva, KMP "Science is for those who learn; poetry is for those who know." __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? What might be worth it to one person might not be to another. If you've got a bookstore close by you should be able to have them special order it for you if they don't have it. That would save you the shipping costs. As to the CD's - it depends on the title. A goodly amount of the music Teri offers is on the Firebird Arts & Music Label. I highly doubt that you are going to find Kitchen Sink Drawer by Michael Longcor (an excellent collection of oddities, including Falconsbane) or Heralds, Harpers & Havoc to name a few in your average local music store. You would more likely find them at a con. You might be able to special order them, I do not know. Granted you will probably pay more (or as much) buying CD's from Firebird but there is a plus side that you need to consider. To put it simply no money, no music. Valdemar music is a nitch market. Not everyone (I know it scandelous but it's true) enjoys Valdemar, and I suspect even fewer of us want to hear the music of that magical land. So the more money those of us who enjoy that music are able to pour directly into the coffers of Firebird the better our chances of seeing/hearing more of that music. Self interest is a good motivator. I buy my music from Firebird, all kinds of music from Inkuyo - music of the Andes to my latest purchase Maidens Prayer by Lisa Lynne. I want to see more albums from Firebird, be they Heartburn (another excellent Michael Longcor collection) or Harmony in Practice by Cecila Eng. Or perhaps Teri will steer me towards another amazing find like Tim Russ (yes the star trek guy) who, the first time I spun the CD I stopped it to check and make sure his CD was the one I put in there. I thought it was Jim Croce. Some of you know of whom I speak for the others - he was a wonderful ballader. Well I've babbled long enough. Support the music you love by buying it from the source. Take care, may all your tax problems be resolved in your favor. mttz ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 16:56:08 EST From: KITTYKATKELLEY-+AT+-aol.com To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: spirits white as lightning? The Valdemar Companion won't be out in paperback for at least 6 months (I work at a local Barnes & Noble, so I know!).
As for your second question: No, it's nothing like the Rivan Codex.  The Codex, if I remember correctly, has histories, prophecies, etc.  The Companion has music of Valdemar, a list of characters & places and which book they were in, maps, where to find info on Valdemar websites....  things like that.   K-
