I'm still on my quest to read all the way thru the list archives. And along the way i found talk of companion's bonds to their herald. instead of trying to explain what i read, i'm gonna sum up my 2 cents worth. excluding MOC's, a companion's bond with their herald is too close for one to survive the death of the other. i saw someone talking about bonds transferring from pairing to pairing. now, if we're to assume that companions can be reincarnated as heralds, and vice versa, what do you think would happen if a herald and their companion were reincarnated into the same lifetime? would the new companion Choose the new herald, as a kind of reversal of roles, or would they be seperated? would the new companion realize which new herald had been their companion in that past life? or would both not be able to recognize each other at all. and in a similar vein, savil and jaysen were both reincarnated and had Chosen in the reign of selenay. do you think sayvil and jasan recognized each other as old friends back during the reign of randale, or did they only know each other as current companions? another thing about reincarnation. van, stef, and yfandes chose to live as guardian spirits in sorrows instead of their other "choices." now it seems to me that somewhere along the line, probably in either the winds or the storms trilogies, there's something said about van's protections around valdemar no longer being necessary. do you think, perhaps, that meant that van and stef and fandes were no longer needed to guard sorrows? and if so, do you think they would choose to be reincarnated as heralds/companions? and what choice would stefen be given? he wasn't a herald, at least, not as stefen. lendel was, but.... wow this really gets confusing. anxiously awaiting your opinions. snapper __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? In the Valdemar Companion, I noticed that (somewhere) in it someone mentions about Jody Lee's artwork and how they think it is important to have such beautiful cover art. Well, it just seems that about 5 years ago, my sister, who got me hooked on Misty, decided to read a book that had a nice cover. And, lo and behold, she picked up Winds of Change. Even though she was totally confused, she liked the books and became a Lackey fan :) Just had to say that.
