The LHM books are well over 10 years old. You have to really pay attention to the subjects of the posts and bypass posts that seem to mention characters in books you haven't read yet. And get to the library and read those books!!!!!!!!! (grin) Now for the welcoming message: Ahem... Welcome to the Misty list, Janetta. Have fun with us and in order to do that, you would do well to read the NewbieFest which contains all kinds of information about the list and the basic netiquette we follow. You can access the Newbiefest at the following URL: http://www.ling.udel.edu/hyde/pers/misty/newbiefest.html One of the things that we do ask of all of our list-sibs is that they try to avoid one-liners and that they try to snip. The list-owner, Mel, has suggested a rule-of-thumb that works pretty well: your own contribution (i.e., the words that you have typed) should be twice as long as the total amount of quoted material (i.e., the words that other people have typed and you are including in your message). This keeps the conversation fresh and also reduces the strain on Vanyel (the computer that runs the mailing list). Once again, welcome. If you have any questions, feel free to mail me individually, or anyone who is a member of the Council of Mist (read that NewbieFest and you'll find the list :-) Meg Councilor of Mist High Priestess of Welcoming POUNCES in charge of the Department of Warm Fuzzies Knight of Amber and Marigold --part1_b7.19940445.296a4190_boundary Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit In a message dated 1/6/2002 5:40:13 PM Eastern Standard Time, janetta_m-+AT+-hotmail.com writes:
