And >Anyone want to bet that Falconsbane survived the end of Winds of Fury as >some sort of diffuse entity blanketing all the kingdoms of the West? Not a chance. I think we will find out that there isn't a specific entity behind it, despite the cover blurb. As we've discussed previously, and from what's in Storm Warning, it looks like the ancient storms are returning. There doesn't have to be anyone behind it. But if there is, why not an unknown villain? Or a foreign deity? Or how about the Haighlei? Or are the Haighlei the Empire? Hmmm. Maybe the storms are being caused by what's left of the White Gryphon enclave? hee hee. The Haighlei are the Black Kings, who've been around since before the Mage Wars. The Empire is what became of what was left of Ma'ar's forces, possibly with additions from those of Urtho's people who went through the other Gates. (Personally, I think the southern kingdoms are more likely to be descended from Urtho's people, and the Empire to be nearly purely Ma'ar's...) -jenneke I *am* family. One of the attending artists was Ted Nasmith(Nasmuth?). Many of you might know him from the exquisitely detailed work he has done based on Lord of the Rings and various Celtic Mythos. He does book art and calendars based on all of Tolkien's books. I had a chance to talk to him briefly and I mentioned Mercedes Lackey as one of my favourite writers. Apparently amongst his many projects he is trying to get permission to create his vision of Velgarath based on Misty's descriptions. I'd like to see it happen. IMHO his drawings of Tolkien's Minas Tirith and the Crystal caves of Algarond(sp?)amongst other works are amazing. Great detail! "Impoverished governess" meets "wealthy but mysterious employer" stories have been around forever... Jean Morrill p.s. for those of you in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area, could someone please tell me the a) quickest b) cheapest and c) easiest ways to get from Baltimore-Wahington International Airport to Calverton, Maryland. I do NOT want to rent a car. Please e-mail me personally, so as not to bore other people. Thanks a lot.
