Acting and working behind the scenes at the Faire is one of the best experiences I've ever had (and if you ever get to do it, DO IT!), but it sort of spoiled all other faires for me. The first time I went as a customer I was annoyed by the prices, the heat, etc., etc., and the lack of a chance to participate as much as I really wanted to. The only thing that bothered me about working was the high level of backstabbing and internal politicking that went on; it was for those reasons that I quite, actually. Not to bring up ML or anything, it was at the Faire that I first heard about her books. It wasn't until a couple of years later that I started reading, though. ............................................................................ ................................ If the current Shin'a'in, Kal'e'din, and Tale'dras can be used as an example any overlord, past present or future, would have had to be spectacular in all departments. Therefore, since Urtho was the overlord, their Goddess must also have thought highly of him, considering that She basically entrusted him with the physical welfare of Her people. This opens up the possibility that he also "belonged" to Her (much in the same way that the Clans do) Why wouldn't he also be given the chance to do "good" after his death, much in the same way that heralds have been given their choice. > Just feeding the fire (heh-heh, pass the kindling over > here.....) Excuse me, but why on Earth does anyone think there *is* anything worthwhile, especially of a magical nature, under Lake Evendim? The palace under Lake Evendim was only Ma'ar's seat for a relatively short period of time, during which he stripped it of everything useful, if the account in _Black Gryphon_ is to be believed. Before Ma'ar took it, it was the seat of the High King, who wasn't even an Adept, much less an Adept given to creating powerful and lasting magical items. Even if something *had* been left behind, it's been underwater, and likely buried in the worst kind of silty mud, for almost *2400* years. That's quite a different matter from being encased in glass and dry sand on a dry plain for the same period of time. Even the stuff in Urtho's Tower wasn't unscathed, even in conditions near those that preserve mummies in our own world. Finally, even if there were something left of the waterlogged ruins of the High King's Palace, it would disintegrate immediately upon being exposed to dry air, if moving it didn't destroy it, and would therefore be entirely useless. -jenneke I *am* family. You would be at an advantage, however, to search the WWW using Webcrawler, or some other such search engine to locate the Penguin Homepage, provided they have one and go from there! If you find that the book is out of print, and it probably is, use the search engine of your choice to find a good on-line book search. I have already had luck finding an out of print book using the good old WWW (The Dragon Token HC, Melanie Rawn Book Two of a series!) Good luck and good reading! Why should a Companion be forced to appear as s/he was when s/he died the last time around as a human? Stefen was an old man when he died, but he appears in the Forest of Sorrows as young man. Why shouldn't a Companion's double-image at least track with the Companion's age, so that a young Companion, like Florian, would be double-seen as a young man, but an old Companion, like Savil's when she died, would be double-seen as an older woman? -jenneke I *am* family.
