I've read all the Vlad books except Athyra. I have it, but never get around to reading it. I haven't been able to get farther than half way through _The Phoenix Guards_, though. I love Callander for my mind candy fix :) Do you know if he's planning anymore 'Mancer books. The ending of Geomancer seems to indicate another, but now he has those dragon (or something) books which I haven't read. No matter what people say, I like Eddings Belgariad/Mallorean books. The others aren't that great though. People bash _Belgarath the Sorcerer_ b/c it seems to tell lots of things we already knew. I like it though, b/c it fills in a lot of loose gaps and gives a different point of view on things. If I read Feist, should I get the new, authors's preffered addition of the Magician books or the regular ones? Wurts I haven't been able to get into. Personally I liked Oathbound and Oathbreakers about the same because I'm lukewarm on the topic of Leslie Fish's voice (it seems to be okay in small doses), but my second favorite after Shadowstalker (totally supremely awesome!) is Heralds Harpers and Havoc. You won't be disappointed by "It was a dark and stormy night... The Sun and Shadow songs are, IMO very beutiful and moving, although much simpler than my imagination had them scored. After HHandH, I actually liked By the Sword a little better than Oathbound or Oathbreakers. It has a really cool song about Kerowyn's Ride Ride, Warrior, Ride With your blade by your side Follow on your spirit steed While the moon's dark venom bleeds Drink the wind as you fly Hear the night beast cry Cold tears run with the rain Down a horse's mane. (I may be wrong about line four; it's pretty hard to hear) But anyway the song is very stirring, almost like you're riding while you're listening to it. And if you're anything like me, you like to imagine riding your own companion... I've rambled long enough. I vote HHandH and By the Sword. Anyone else? The second song is about Death as a lover. The first few lines are: Crimson and crystal deck her shadowed halls, And in incense and teardrops her voice gently calls. Her eyes they are hollow, like deep empty pools And her touch is like ice, that makes mortal blood cool. I may have gotten some of the lyrics garbled or incorrect, but the gist is there and this puzzle is driving me crazy (that little anal-retentive monster is biting me on the nose again!) Her books are aimed at children, but boy are they good! You can generally find them at the public library, and I think they are just beginning to re-release them. Her, Lewis and Sutcliffe will be on my children's required reading list. Laura--definitely have your friend read Diana Gabaldon! Her books are excellent, and if you need to borrow them (or anything else) , I've copies I can lend. Call me ignorant, but how does one find out more information on the QO that has been talked about? Is it through Firebird or something else, and what is it exactly?
