I know that it's been 8 or 9 years since I first read AotQ. At first, maybe Misty never intended for non-gifted people to be able to hear mindspeakers. It was neccessary for the story for Talia to be "deaf" to mindspeech. Now, however, books and characters later, she needs for people like Karal to be able to hear Companions. Since Talia is no longer a main character, its not really an issue in recent books. So that's how I explain the apparent discrepancy. Sigh...I miss Talia and Dirk :-(. As for a "quick" bio, I'm a 22 year old grad student in bioanalytical chemistry, who's married to a guy named Aaron. He's such a sweetie---he'll go out and buy me books, usually based on how much he likes the cover. That's how I first got Jordan's _The Eye of the World_. Anyway, since this is my first year at grad school, my "fun" activities are mainly limited to reading the list. Sigh...Someday I'll have a life again. :-) Stacy Hunt DuVall duvall.23-+AT+-osu.edu "What's my loftiest ambition? It was necessary for her to mindspeak Stefen, and Vanyel had no problem speaking back, but with Talia, Rolan has no need to speak to her, their bond and her empathy works well enough. Hope it helps. Besides, all of the cool people are from Canada. KD Lang, Keanu Reeves...'nough said. I started Misty last year in 8th grade, and so far I've read three Dis, Velgarths up to SW, and two Bardics. Narnia in elementary school, probably 5th, and some of Jane Yolen's work (thanks to whoever sent that info) in middle school (6th). I am on the net primarily because of homework projects. I was searching for things I actually like when I hit the proverbial paydirt. Yipee! Now I'm stuck here having to read my mail about every other day. Somebody, however, erased a bunch of our mail, so life for today is easy. Less to read. I'm also on the net because our sorry-little-but-semi-useful IBM compatible is text only, no graphics, and has wp and tetris. Add to that the fact that due to a lack of payment we have been without a phone line at home. A motem, though technically possible, cannot exist, we come here to UNM to talk to my brother in New Orleans, LA. I hope to get a scholarship, I have heard tuitions outrageous, and I want to do something when I grow up. Who knows what. I also plan on reading most of what's recommended and some of what's not, as posted on this mailing list. Any further info, and most of what's here would be a bit excessive. Questions welcomed. And though my replies might be sarcastic as well, at least they are coming from me. P.P.S. I've just been told that our account no longer exists. Ever read/seen Dune? For some reason, everyone's eyes tuned blue there too. The movie editing was extremely poor, and Paul's eyes went from brown to blue, then back to brown and back to blue. It was extremely annoying, especially when they kep showing close-ups of him. So any white or mostly white horse will do--the non-white "imperfections" could probably be eliminated after filming as well. My memory's sort of hazy on this point though. let's see... if I could be a character from one of her books it would probably be either Vanyel or Firesong because of their mage gifts (all right, I admit it, I'm powerhungry), or I'd be Raistlin out of the Dragonlance series... speaking of which, is anyone keeping up with the books? they just keep on going and going and going... later, Irene lintball ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Nov 1995 13:15:57 -0700 From: Jean Morrill To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: the latest poll Message-ID: <199511122015.NAA23860-+AT+-torrent.hwr.arizona.edu> w/regard to the bisexual character thread, I am suprised no one has mentioned Kory and Eric It was clear in KoGaS that Kory and Eric loved each other, and were attracted to each other, as well as to Beth. Although we (as readers) don't know whether they ever acted upon that attraction after that first kiss, the possibility exists. It seemed from Kory's musings, that being attracted to men as well as women was something new for both of them. StT didn't mention Kory and Eric's relationship much, but maybe the third book will.
