It seems to me it will be Andesha..." Actually, I don't think Firesong will lifebond to anyone. Lovebonding is another matter entirely (and in that case, I'd agree with Julie, Silverfox is a better candidate for a good partner for Firesong than Andesha is.) But I also think that a lovebond is better for Firesong than a lifebond would be. He must, because of who and what he is, always consider the needs of his Healing gift. And for Healers, a little selfishness can be the only protection from burning themselves out. In Firesong's case, I think he has been consoling himself in the arms of the nearest good looking hunk for so long that he has created a pattern that helps him rejuvenate. Let's face it, Firesong is not built for the celibate life. And if he were lifebonded, and separated from his bondmate, he'd be worse than miserable. Yoicks! and Away! Vanyel did take classes at the collegium, but it didn't go into depth very much on the topic of his education at Bardic. He took History and Religions, but that was as far as it got in explaining his education at the collegium. AOTQ, AFlight, and AFall go into a lot more detail concerning the training and educating of herald trainees. But it does seem to me like it is quite a bit more structured in Talias time than in Vanyels (this could be because there is a lot more detail on it in AOTQ, and because Talia spends an enormous amount of her time on the palace grounds and at the different collegiums, so we get more info on what life is like there.) - Mannaheim ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jan 1996 12:31:06 -0800 From: wdjpej-+AT+-ix.netcom.com (William Jones ) To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: YKYBRTMMLW: Message-ID: <199601092031.MAA25241-+AT+-ix11.ix.netcom.com> >Now that goes just a bit far doesnt it? How To Meet New Mercedes Lackey Fans: - Walk into a room with the greeting: "Bright the day" and look past the dazed and confuzed looks to that one person who responded (automatically, seeing as how it's eventually inevitable for any ML fan) "And Wind to thy Wings" - Learn to speak fluently in Shin'a'in, and do so whenever possible... Watch faces for recognition... - Comment often on how easy it would be if all doctors wore green, musicians red, etc. Well, that's all for now... BTW: this is the last installment of this signature, for Manheim's sake (seeing as how I've been admonished for the long sig...) So those of you who like it, save it now... - Shadow-Lover I looked back and forth throught the window of 15th century Spain, through hues of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, and was drown into a fascinating world: history, religion, cross-cultural ferlilization...For some medieval minds the mirror "was the door through which the sould frees itself by passing"...for others the pursuit of personal refinement was likened to "polishing the mirror of the soul." From the more familiar turf of the west coast of Ireland, through the troubadours of France, crossing over the Pyrenees and then to the west through Galicia, down through Andalusia and past Gibraltar to Moracco...The Crusades, the pilgramage to Santiago, the Knights Templar, the Sufis from Egypt, One Thousand and One Nights in Arabia, the Celtic sacred imagery of trees, the Gnostic Gospels...who was God? And what is religion, what spirituality? What was revealed and what was concealed...and what was the mask and what the mirror? -Loreena McKinnitt ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jan 1996 13:11:53 -0800 (PST) From: "Patrick S. If he does ever lifebond, it would probably be to Silverfox, not Andesha. But then again, he probably wont lifebond at all. But in SWarning (and I forget who said it) someone, or maybe Firesong himself, said that he cared about Andesha. I also have to put in my two cents and say that most of the time "bad" guys in books aren't bad in regards to them self, it is just from the viewpoint of the writer they are the villian, who knows if that makes any real sense but i think it does... Terry Pratchett! (or not so seriously, considering Terry's work) I don't have quite as much Pratchett memorabilia as you seem to have Misty. . . but I'm working on it ;) Yay! He's going to be here for a signing tour this month, so I finally get to have my few unautographed Pratchett books signed ;) Zhai'helleva, Alex (al-+AT+-atcafe.com.au) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jan 1996 17:22:13 -0800 (PST) From: Becky Anne Christensen To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: the bells, the bells (esmeralda) Message-ID: On Tue, 9 Jan 1996, Gyrfalcon wrote: > On Tue, 9 Jan 1996, Becky Anne Christensen wrote: > > > > Okay, I'm going to do something REALLY daring. So I figure I'll try it and see what he's like. I'm not a picky reader, so I'll probably be more tolerant. I love reading just about anything. So anyways, I'm thanking everyone who gave me suggestions, eventually I'll make it to the library and try one! But anyone who uses an idea for 18 books has to have a serious mental block. Yeup Yeup, exactly.. As someone who tries valiantly to write shorts for each of the characters I play in various roleplaying games, I have to consciously make sure I avoid this type of thing. The next step after getting past that one is the temptation to have an oh-so-innocent character discovering . Slightly less obvious but still hackneyed.
