Comes from the old ride-into-the-sunset cowboy mythos. And I have an absolute love-hate relationship with it. Hate it 'cos it's depressing, but at least think it's better than the "Ok bad-guy's dead, everyone else come back to life.." tawdry style of things that cheapens what the characters go through. One of the reasons I like Misty's writing so much is that she finds a good balance between these two things.. In the FAQ, which I seem to remember posting just last week, it notes that if you _can't_ leave your subject line blank -- I believe this applies to AOL people and Compuservers, possibly others -- then use "No Subject". Do _NOT_ use "unsubscribe". It won't work. It really won't. You need to trust me on this, because I know. Really. Don't do it. Susan B Cooper is really good, the Dark is Rising sequence, but you need to read Over Sea under Stone first, it is like Arthurian kind of, Kellie Myers I totally agree with recommending "The Dark is Rising" as a couple of the books are set in Wales I think I may be a bit biased. But Hey " a little selfishness is good for the soul" [I think that Quote is close!!!] Jason 95662014-+AT+-mmu.ac.uk " I see you shiver in antici....pation" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jan 1996 13:12:58 GMT From: STOKES J <95662014-+AT+-mmu.ac.uk> To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: re- ROCKY Message-ID: Date: Wed, 10 Jan 1996 05:44:12 GMT Reply-to: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk From: Kellie To: 95662014-+AT+-mmu.ac.uk Subject: Re: re- ROCKY > > Jason wrote > > > > I see you shiver in antici.........pation > > Kellie screamed "hurryayyyy " sorry i love to find rocky horror fans anywhere, hey Jason are you a virgin to the show, if not where did you see it and was it great, i still haven't seen it at the theater... well later all hee hee Kellie OH ROCKY , Janet , Doctor SCOTT Brad....... Kellie Myers Kellie I have been a fan of Rocky since '89 I've seen 4 stage productions [ including the 21st anniversary tour show twice {sept '94}] I own the film, the audience partici....pation film tape and the stage version tape [which includes extended songs and songs not in the film. ] When I lived in America [Piedmont C.A. to be exact ] I used to go to Berkley every Saturday night for about 5 months for the midnight shows. [ film plus live cast ] My youngest sister [ now 7] has been into ROCKY since she was 3. Tim Curry is still the only Frank, But Howerd Samuels[ 21st ann. touring cast in UK] and the guy from the" Indecent Exposure" cast [ Berkley C.A.] are close seconds I'll finish now as this may be boring some of the others. I had heard April as well. That's why I was so surprised when Barnes & Noble said Feb. With my luck, they're both wrong! Well, either way, they *are* taking orders. They are the self-described masters of Gate technology, and they also have permanent Gates(IIRC). Along with that, wasn't there something in the Storms books about the founders of the EE coming out of a Gate in the wrong place. This happened when they were fleeing a great catastrophe of some kind, though it had been forgotten. Since magic didn't work very well after the Cataclysm, those people had to be fleeing before it happened. Any counterpoints? And as for Ma'ar, the guy wouldn't have known good if he'd tortured it to death himself. Urtho should have squashed him early on, but for some reason chose to let him fester. IIRC Urtho even said something along the lines of "If I could just talk it out with him, he'd see that killing innocent women, children, and even baby gryphons is wrong, and then be a nice guy." Personally, I prefer Skan's method. "You do not help a mad dog, you kill it." All for n-a-o-w, now, Whiteraven. I mean it this time. ------------------------------ Date: 10 Jan 96 10:46:30 EST From: "David J. That doesn't mean, that's it's too late to try. I think it's also about time I read LHM, since it takes up almost all the space in this posting. Another author I'd recommend is Ru Emerson - though maybe not the nightthreads series. the _Tales of Nedao_ trilogy is good, as are most of the earlier books. I can also confirm the recommendation for Elizabeth Moons _Deed of Paksenarrion_ trilogy. And I can highly recommend P.C.Hodgell's Jame books - although they're hard to find (God Stalk, Dark of the Moon, Seekers Mask). BTW, the Misty/Anne McCaffrey book _The Ship Who Searched_ is one of the rare co-authored books that I reckon is better than the McCaffrey only original. -- _|_ / | Jerry Cullingford jc-+AT+-crosfield.co.uk (Work) \_|_ jc-+AT+-selune.demon.co.uk (Home) \__/ Hemel Hempstead, UK jerry-+AT+-shell.portal.com (alternate) ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 303 *********************************
