I must say that those lucky souls who've read the second Mage Storms book seem to suggest that Firesong and An'desha do not make it, (well, they do _make_ it, or so I assume, but they don't actually make it, if you see what I mean ). This has surprised me as well, because of all those hints we had in Winds of Fury, when the avatars are showing An'desha the group of Elspeth/Darkwind/Skif/Nyara/Firesong on their way to .... you know, that place where whatisname, Ancar, rules - aaaaargh it's, it's .... nope 's gone - well anyway, on their way to wherever, and An'desha gets these strange feelings whenever he sees Firesong. Now, he's not in the normal, "cor he's a bit of alright, I fancy some of that" situation, so plain lust-at-first-sight is not so likely in these circumstances (is it???), so _I_ took this to mean that An'desha was lifebonding - a bit like Talia did the first time she saw Dirk. So I go along with the "nah, changed my mind" theory - certainly Firesong and Silverfox are "in lust" at the end of WoFury - but there was no hint of anything deeper given then (I thought lifebonds kicked in with early meetings/encounters?) The only bad guy that keeps coming back is Ma'ar, and the only reason he keeps coming back is because he is/was a very intelligent mage and figured out how to stay "alive" after his body died. I suspect that if Urtho had known how to do this and knew that Ma'ar would also had the knowledge, he would have hid in the void also, in order to come back later to finish off Ma'ar. As it was, Urtho had no knowledge of this, or maybe he did and didn't mention it. The only thing he says before he dies is that his people will be safe for the rest of their lives. I suspect the reason he didn't say that everyone would be safe from then on is because he knew what Ma'ar would when Ma'ars body was killed. -Mannaheim ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jan 1996 11:23:09 -0800 (PST) From: "Patrick S. IIRC, most of the mages went with Clan k'Leshya and ended up in White Gryphon (the city), especially Urthos best mage, Snowstar. Since they all went off to empire of the black kings and then came back again to take over the vale in WFate/WFury? it seems to me like it's just the Eastern Empire, founded by someone long ago, and prospering very nicely. What strikes me at first is the way that they treat they're people. Ruthlessly. Charliss is quite evil, and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. To me, this is not the way of the people that followed Urtho, although they might have changed over the centuries. Still, I don't think it's Urthos people who founded the Eastern Empire. -Mannaheim ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jan 1996 14:36:50 -0500 (EST) From: Rosario Holsen-Baker To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Bough Breaks Message-ID: > >|--------------------------------<>------------------------------ > >| I would there were no age between sixteen and three-and-twenty | > >| or that youth would sleep out the rest, > | > >| for there is nothing in the between but > | > >| getting wenches with child, wronging the ancientry, stealing, fighting | > >|------------------------------------------------------------------------| > > I think I must have missed something, Jaguar, because I just hit twenty > four, and have never done any of those things.
