I totally agree with Seanna on Valdemars lack of change - good grief look at my sceptred isle (or is that sceptic?) the good ole U of K, and consider the change that has gone on over the last 500 years, let alone 2 millenia. Doesn't someone say at some point that the whites design hadn't changed for several hundred years - think on fashion changes this century alone - then go back to the (european) 16th century - the men wore tights and puff ball shorts for heavens sake - at least the women had the sense to stick with dresses! Another interesting bit of news I found. Larry Dixon is somewhere in the Vancouver Washington, Portland Oregon area. I live out here and it surprised me when my brother bought a locally published collection of art from semi-professional authors (well, supposedly semi-professional) and "Smug Skandranon" was in there. This is the picture of Skandranon with the glowing ball of mage energy clutched in his claw. -Declan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jan 1996 11:21:20 CST From: JR9332-+AT+-cub.uca.edu To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: YKYBRTMMLW (wow, this really is getting off-thread ;) Message-ID: <4E346BE5463-+AT+-cub.uca.edu> > Date sent: Fri, 12 Jan 1996 09:23:04 GMT > Send reply to: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk > From: Becky Anne Christensen > To: jr9332-+AT+-cub.uca.edu > Subject: Re: YKYBRTMMLW (wow, this really is getting off-thread ;) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > THOK! > > > > > high velocity>. > > > > > > Who me, no I didn't do it... > > > > > It's those damn swallows again.. > > > > > > > > > > Kerry. > > > > > > > > An African or European swallow? > > > > > > > > Hmm. . . I have an awful time trying to explain what RPG's are. Especially in interviews when your asked what you hobbies are. He used too much of the power from the node and the spell became unstable, so an earthquake resulted. I've wondered about that too, since later on Tashir becomes "Baron of the March of Baires-Lineas," and Vanyel picks his staff for him, but it doesn't say where Tashir will go. I also thought that was quite odd, although I can only check the maps in OBound and OBreakers since those are the only ones with me. Well well well. I looked at the maps and Lineas and Baires arent even on there. That's REALLY odd. But maybe they're on the other maps. I think Fantasy books have a LOT more style than most Sci-fi books, especially Misty. Eddings is ok, but in the Elenium series he uses the same ploys over and over again. Illustrators have the difficult task of drawing a character in many different positions and moods and still making the charachter recognizable in each one. Speaking in general, I prefer books to be illustrated. In the past, a book without illustration was a rarity, and yet today, publishers very seldom publish a book with anything more than a jacket drawing. Most frequently of all, we get book with nothing more to it than fancy lettering. Of course, I'm a children's librarian, so I really LIKE books with lots and lots of pictures :-) Yoicks! and Away!
