(I'm having > > Cindy > But I thought that the vrondi didn't bother herald mages. They only bothered mages. There are contradicting points about this. In Magic's Price, when Van rides off into the woods with a horse, to talk to that other guy in Haven, he uses magic and a vrondi comes and watches him. He doesn't know what it is at first, then he realizes and gives some sort of identification. This shows that the vrondi did watch the Herald-Mages. But then later on, in Winds of Fury (I think) when Van is talking to Elspeth and everyone else, he says that they just watch and report any magic to the nearest herald mage. Van must have added that later, but in TLHM books it never mentions him adding that to the spell. So sonce Elspeth was a Herald, the vrondi left her alone. She was taught that she couldn't effect things. They mistook mage-gift for farsight. I think that Quenten thinks something to himself along the lines of "Thank God she didn't try to touch anything, then all havoc would break loose." As for the nodes, someone (I don't know who, or in which book, could be any of them) says that the power from nodes come from living things themselves.I'll go check through the books to see if I can find where and who says this. I think it's in Magic's Price... There are so many characters in all her books that are just waiting for their own trilogies. the Kyree, Ikan and Justin, Roald, Griffon, Stefen, Lavan Firestorm, all the under-developed characters. Misty has enough people to write about that she could quite possibly wite for a hundred years without running out of people. And all of them would be wonderful! I don't know if a non-human Herald would be possible. How could a Dyheli ride a Companion? I noticed something last night when I was re-reading Arrows of the Queen. In that book, most of the characters that will be very important in the other two are mentioned. There seems to be lots of little things about Griffon, but we barely see him in the rest of the books. At the end, it even mentions him along with Keren, Sherril, Elspeth, Selenay, and other important characters. I wonder if she meant him to be more involved with the story then he turned out to be. For the second part, Keth was not mind gifted, and mind-mage shields are totally different from mage-shields... So I searched and I searched...and..I found my JULY issue...and 'TA-DA!' ther eit was..p.16 of JUly 95 catalog, in tiny print, not mentioned in the blurb, only under the prices: Beyond the World's End 1995 release date ok..so I guess they're taking their time. But thats one BIG extension, considering it isn't even MENTIONED in the WInter catalog:( ************ As I find I have no ASCII skill, I'm gonna do a hypercube instead... With my buying the BTS CD, the situation ahs worsened... seem that A: Kyree is pronounced kye-ree. the first being like rye w/ a k B: Shin'a'in is pronounced Shin-ay-in. ay being a long i C: Kero is Keer-o THis is not good for me. It is destroying my pronounciations of it as A: Kyree as ki-ree, with a short i B; Shin'a'in as SHin-a-in, being a long a C: Kero as keh-ro What's next? V'kandis as Vee-can-dis?;> Ok..probably NOT a pressing issue, but... ************ As I find I have no ASCII skill, I'm gonna do a hypercube instead... I could have lived w/o some of the songs, and probably the best was On The Edge of the Forest, the one about Kero turning Daren down on marriage. Davs's voice really SHINED on this one, unlike most others LOvers, Lore, and Loss- OK...to thell you the truth, I didn't know WHAT to expect from this CD. Unfortuantely, I was haping it would be at a level with Shadow Stalker. The best I can say is that Shandeen is better than Misty was;> But, really, this sequel seemed truly unneccassary...yes, I KNOW that was spelled wrong.. Oathbound- Eng's voice is at par with Misty for the You-shouldn't-be-singing-award;> The tunes blended, and the voices you TRIED to ignore, except for Warner's.. Oathbreakers- Haven't listened yet;> Freedom, Flight, and Fantasy- Finally. a GOOD one. Wait. Scrath that. A REALLY good one. Alexander does it again, and the music is actually HUMMABLE! I AHVE to go track-by-track with this one Arafel's Lament: WOnderful start to the album, and on its own. Its forcing me to buy Cherryh's book;> The Dukes Eldest Daughter: A nice, light tale..if a bit TOO light. Not one of my favorites. The Captive: When you pay attention to lyrics, you like it. WHen you listen in the background, you hate it. Nuf' Said Dream Rider: This one is light AND not too light;> Reminds me of kender, of all things..which reminds me 'd better put a campaign together;. SNow Magic: I got ADDICTED to the chorus of this one. The Patterns of Amber: Well done. WHile I usually don't like Alexander's voice when she tries to make it sound anything but the way it really is (take the Duke in track 2), she does a fine job this time. Making me get Zelanzy's book;> A Last Battle: Reminds me of The Entertainer by Billy Joel for the sole reason that its TOO LONG. A nice, depressing piece. Rejected: This is one of the jewels of the album. Alexander has emotion in her voice, and the guitar, if thats what it is, is great. The Trap: funny, if a bit to jumpy..like 2&3 Choices: Prettyy good, but not at the level of 1&8. ---------------------- Reivews to be finished at a later date. ************ As I find I have no ASCII skill, I'm gonna do a hypercube instead...
