It's about 8 hours from my house to anything, however small, in Oklahoma (13 hours from my dorm), and I can't exactly show up on Misty's doorstep demanding a copy of SG...to say nothing of other new fantasy works. It is ironic to say the least that such creative minds (including, of course, moi! ) can come from such barren (figuratively) soil. In Nebraska, we still get some people thinking that fantasy readers must be Satan-worshippers (oh, of course--you see, fantasy people must *all* play D&D...and D&D players are *all* Satanists, everyone knows that...so all fantasy readers are Satanists, QED). And are there examples of reincarnation into a >nongendered being or form? In the Arrows books, Talia is bothered because Rolan is constantly at the back of her mind, and she can't even shield him out. She says that Companions, like other people (including other than humans), are always in season. Being the alpha male, Rolan mates almost every night. I take it that this means they also mate for recreation, just like the rest of us sapient fuzzy-things. 'Nuff said, Whiteraven Sorry if this is way late, I've been kinda neglecting the List in favor of the Mage War. ------------------------------ Date: 14 Feb 96 21:05:10 EST From: Rynath <102744.2515-+AT+-compuserve.com> To: M-L mailing list Subject: Re: Attention all groups! I really shouldn't even dignify this post with a response. But.... Not me! Pbthththt! --Gyrfalcon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~msowers-+AT+-menger.eecs.stevens-tech.edu~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Magic still exists. We have only to reach out and touch it, it is a part of the very fabric of the world. When our belief of magic completely dies this universe shall die. Because that magic; Hope, Dreams, Love, Beauty, Wonder, Belief, and Discovery are what make us a people. They are all part of a great Art whose workings are still a mystery but whose applications can be seen every day. If we ever lose the Art mankind shall not last the day. Let the magic that is in us roam free in our work, play, in each other, and most of all in ourselves. Let it roam free or it will die. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 1996 00:01:19 -0500 (EST) From: Adrienne York To: Mercedes Lackey Mailing List Subject: An'desha's eyes Message-ID: I have the answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it was so obvious. (If she's told us once, she's told us a thousand times.) SR, p. 57, hardback: "Andesha's eyes were those of a cat's, still: green-yellow, and slit-pupiled. Now, though, they were growing paler, more silvery blue than greenish yellow. Again that was the effect of ALL THE MAGIC (my emphasis) An'desha had handled in setting up the breakwater." So, Misty was just following her own advice.
