They're not talking about the Monarch's Own Herald's Companion. . . They're talking about the *Monarch's* Companion. . . i.e. In the Arrows trilogy, The Monarch's Own Herald's Companion is Rolan, while the Monarch's Compain (Selenay's Companion) is Caryo. . . You sit around wondering how well Vanyel can do against other fantasy sorcerers. YOU: "Now, Vanyel against Belgarath..." NORMAL MISTY FAN: "What are you talking about?" 9. You look for a way to tie *all* of Misty's books together. YOU: "So, if we look at Diana Tregarde, and we look at the way *she* does magic, it's the same as when Vanyel..." NORMAL MISTY FAN: 8. You bought a white horse of your very own. YOU: "And this is my companion, Bella." 7. Your credit card bill at Firebird Arts & Music is more than your tuition; you have a standing order there for *every* new Misty work that comes out; and they know you there by name. YOU: "Hello, Firebird?" TELEPHONE: "Oh! Hi Jake! How are you? Your $200 order is coming in the mail soon, and we've placed a pre-order for the third book in the Vows and Honor Trilogy for you." 6. You slavered over the thought that there *might* be a third book in the Vows & Honor series. (There isn't). INTERNET RUMOR PERSON: "So, the third book is called "Oathblinded." YOU: "Really? Really? Really?" 5. Your friends never let you bring music to parties because you only bring filk, and you always *insist* that they play all of _Shadow Stalker_. YOU: "Man, Heather Alexander's voice is like gold!" YOUR NORMAL FRIEND: "Who in the world is Heather Alexander?" 4. Not only that, but you *liked* "Herald's Creed." YOU: "I mean, it's so majestic." NORMAL MISTY FAN: "Oh, please." 3. You are fluent in Shin'a'in, Tayledaras, and the Hawkbrother tongues, and use these words in daily conversation. YOU: "Heyla, Boss!" YOUR BOSS: "Heyla? What are you talking about?" 2. You go berserk over the correct pronunciation of Vanyel's name. YOU: "VAHN-yel? No! It's van-YEL!" 1. You sit around writing lists like this one. I have been a Highlander addict from the start, both the movies and the show. Connor Macleod, (Christopher Lambert) is /hot/ when ever he has long hair, but other then that I can do with out. Duncan Macleod (Adrian Paul) has me drooling every Sunday night, and the ancient immoral, Methos, isn't to bad either. Forever Knight was canceled! ARG! Sure, afterI finally get a place where I can watch it regularly they cancel it. *grr* And Vashon is /very/ nice as well. Ob Misty: Ok, here's the real question....Who's would you go for, Darkwind or Firesong? I know Firesong is supposed to have all Vanyel's magnatism and all, but Darkwind was always so much more attractive to me. But, hmmm... doesn't Valdemar's coat of arms or something have a Pagasus on it?" Valdemar's coat of arms is a pegasus rearing with broken chains hanging from it's neck. Also, the wings could be a symbollic representation that it's Companions, not just some white horse (like a Lippenzir [sp?]). He ORDERED her to stay out of it, and she had no choice but to obey. Which was why she was in a near catatonic state when Vanyal and Fandes got there - she couldn't disobey her Herald, and she couldn't help the Companion. Which raises an interesting question - if Lores did order to stay out of it, AND that was the reason she didn't interfer, that has some serious implications about the Herald-Companion relationship. Was what Lores did on the same scale as what Tylendel did? Because Lendel was repudiated for his actions. I would have thought anything that would put a Companion into catatonic shock would also be serious enough to be grounds for repudiation! Would somebody PLEASE help me out? Possible spoiler, but I'll fill the screen with a book review. If anyone is need of a good laugh, I recommend Barry Hughart (Eight Skilled Gentlemen, The Story of the Stone, Bridge of Birds). Wonderful mysteries set in China (the one That Should Have Been) starring Li Kao (described in the book as (from memory) 'the painter looked at Li kao, looked at the canvas, then dipped his waist length locks in the indigo and whipped his head back and forth, then sketched a head shape around the lines, and added to bird-bright eyes. It looked just like him!') and his helper (and narrator) Number Ten Ox. They are wonderful, subtle yarns. If it helps, Anne McCaffrey wrote a wonderful review about them. In the end, is Jason Cameron partially cured or not? I remember it saying in the end that he could travel in the East if wanted to, which seemed to imply that he got rid of the tail and paws, or was I just making an assumption (ass-u-me)? Ok, here's the real question....Who's would you go for, Darkwind or Firesong? (Who else hunky can we discuss?)" I must admit to having a weakness for Darkwind, although I wouldn't say not to Skif (drat, he's taken!). To be a bit cliche, I must admit that Interview with a Vampire had some major hunk-a-licious guys in it. Most notedly Brad Pitt (bite my neck, baby *drool*) and Melanie Grifith's guy - Banderos? Banderez? yum! It's all that long hair - enough to make any sensible female toss restraint to the winds and dive in with ecstatic smile and clutching hands. Now if Andre had long hair . . . That's about the only thing that Firesong has to recommend - lots and lots of hair! I would be inclined to think that Firesong would like a playful romp - a meaningless sensual experience - than a long-lasting relationship. Of course, who said we could only go for just one??!!!
