The Monarch's Own Companion does indeed survive his Herald. This is probably stated in Arrows of the Queen: the MOC is always Grove-born, always male, and only dies if killed by someone. We just got done going over this about a week ago. USUALLY the Herald-Companion bond is that strong. But I guess that in the case of the MOC, there is something about him, maybe the fact that he is Grove-born, that keeps him alive when his Herald dies. -+AT+->--- Stormcloud In the name One in Black of the Moon Jenna, the Misty maniac I'll punish you! jwil3969-+AT+-simcl.stjohns.edu ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Mar 1996 20:35:24 +0100 (CET) From: Birgit Hanel To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Out Of Print - Copyright Ethics (fwd) Message-ID: I got this from another list and thought it was a good point on works which are out of print. I've got a toss up > inbetween Kerowyn and (young) Kethry, but that's just me... > I'm not a guy but I don't see why you'd want to pick just one, m'self... Although, if forced to choose, I'd go for Kethry. Kero is just a little too ... physical for my tastes. I'd worry she'd nightmare while I was in bed and snap me in half by accident. _____________________________________________________________________________ L'enfant terrible ayork-+AT+-simons-rock.edu Grand Destinies lead to Grand Funerals. -Mercedes Lackey ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Mar 1996 16:29:39 -0500 (EST) From: Adrienne York To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Misty Co-Authors Message-ID: Sine we're talking about Darkover books, does anyone know or know where I can find a Darkover chronology, order of publication and/or internal history of the planet? and thanx for all the fish... _____________________________________________________________________________ L'enfant terrible ayork-+AT+-simons-rock.edu Grand Destinies lead to Grand Funerals. -Mercedes Lackey ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Mar 1996 15:39:44 -0600 (CST) From: SHE WHO THINKS GEORGE COOPER IS THE PERFECT MAN To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: People we would like to meet Message-ID: <960306153944.302a7-+AT+-tiny.computing.csbsju.edu> This sin't too hard for me. Or maybe it is.... Hmmm who would I want to nmeet? (Forgive tha bad typing and typos, I've lost the use of the delete key) I'd say that if I could live in any of the books, it'd have to be in "The Lark and the R *errrrr* Wren" I don't know why, but I['m terribly obsessed with that idea. Three people to meet----> SKif, Kero, and Neave/Griffon. (pardon spelling, I can't go back and change. :( This could get annoying.) Skif is just my favorite, because I seem to have a thing about thieves, scoundrals, and vagabonds. (George Cooper, Silk, Jim,... they're all some of my fav. chars. and they all have something about, well how do you say, borioing *errr* let me say that again... BORROWING things, and not giving them back. :) Kero has been my idol since I first read By the sword, and I don't know what I've got for neave and Griffon... they're just awesome minor charactors. I WOULD NOT want to meet Falconsbande and Ancar (it's prbbably not to hard to figure out why) And there's no group of people I'd less like to see then the gang of Bullies from Westhaven (sp?) where Rune was frome. FROM. Sorry to all if this was hard to undesrstand... Here's a question I've been having..... maybe someone with more wisdome then myself could help me to answer it. In AFall, Rolan brings back the arrows from Talia. Kryill AHHH... gotta go.. I'll finsh this later. Oops!) Anyway, my sister told me, then I hated him. Until I read that first chapter all about him. Now I WILL remember who he is, and I like him. He's very creative and an excellent leader. And Diana and Andre are simply neccessities. And I would really love to meet Eric Kory and Beth. To live with? I really think that Eric, Kory and Beth would be a neat mix. (plus, there would always be good music around! as well as interesting houseguests!) I am simply fascinated with their personalities. They are good people, but they are not perfect. they have enough imperfections to seem real. But of course I WOULD NOT turn down the chance to hop on over to Valdemar. Tarma, Alberich, and Kerowyn I would love to meet because they remind me of the private instructor I used to have. :) I certainly don't know about living with them, though... -Free Bard Oriole ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You're SO nice! Vanyel!!!!! <- 5! :c (vampire) I could not survive any meeting of Misty characters without meeting Vanyel. It's been a hopeless dream of mine for five or six years now, and, well, I'd just HAVE to! I don't care how hard he'd be to live with, I'd just have to. Along with that, I would also like to meet Stef. He just seemed incredibly cool, and I think I would get along with him. And last, I would like to meet An'desha. I like his personality. I also would just like to talk to him about everything that happened to him > To live in - LHM. Quite frankly, the idea of living in war-torn > WOF, BG, or SR is *scary*, and I'm not that adventurous. But they were at war then, too-- with Karse, if you'll remember. Vanyel coming home from the Karsite border, etc. and so forth. Early Arrows wasn't bad-- the war didn't start up until the third book. But if I had to live any time in her books, I'd have to agree with LHM. > People I would not want to meet (unless I had God's own Nomex > suit, and the chance to throttle them) Orthallen (creep!
