As for me, well.... Darkwind. No question! Caring, compassionate, lots of integrity and inner strength, not to mention that he tops out the drool meter! The people I'd most like to meet are: Tarma, Vanyel, Kerowyn, Solaris, Alberich, and Tremayne. Hmmm, apparently I like strong characters. Also, they'd sure be nice to have around when things got rough. I was trying to get my thouroughly un-fantasy friends to like filk, I made them a tape, and actually typed up the lyrics to each song. And it was a 90 minute tape. Does anyone else realize how _long_ the lyrics to "Demonsbane" are to type? I was acutally thinking about adding a Misty-filk section to my homepage. I might stick those lyrics onto it (might as well get _some_ use out of them), and try to stick a few (bad quality) .wav files (or .au) of parts of Misty songs there. But as always me-+AT+-school Books-+AT+-far.far.away --Gyrfalcon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~msowers-+AT+-menger.eecs.stevens-tech.edu~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Magic still exists. We have only to reach out and touch it, it is a part of the very fabric of the world. When our belief of magic completely dies this universe shall die. Because that magic; Hope, Dreams, Love, Beauty, Wonder, Belief, and Discovery are what make us a people. They are all part of a great Art whose workings are still a mystery but whose applications can be seen every day. If we ever lose the Art mankind shall not last the day. Maybe it's something that just happened *inbetween* trilogies, and isn't written. Like the songs about Vanyel that aren't narrated in prose (like "Shadowstalker"), perhaps it's just something Misty hasn't written a story about... Gael Baudino's Shroud of Shadow. Terry Brooks' Landover stuff. Barbara Hambly's trilogy with the "Dog Wizard" book in it. Why? Why is there such an obsession with tying fantasy in with real life? I mean an urban fantasy is one thing. And a high fantasy is another. And science fiction is another thing. It just reminds me of (ugh) Christopher Stasheff's books.
