He would have had to announce who the arrows belong to, because everyone would want to know who was dead, and who sent the arrows. Talia's, what, eighteen at the end? Which restricts the casting quite a bit. I could see the young girl who was in Interview with the Vampire (Kirsten something?) making a good (young) Elspeth, perhaps. But there would be fairly major problems with other characters. Kris and Dirk can't be too old. (How about Christian Slater for Dirk? I wouldn't say he was classically good-looking.) Selenay, Alberich and the rest of the "adults" are less of a problem, but that still leaves us with a whole bunch of trainee Heralds, who should mostly look between thirteen and eighteen... Does anyone else agree with me that the picture of Talia, on the cover of AofQ, is rather transparently based on a young Molly Ringwald? Anyway, I think that Clare Danes (the girl from "my so-called life") would make a cool Talia. Kirsten Dunst could be young Elspeth. And much as I love Faye, I have to say that I have always visualized Selenay as Glenn Close (its that she's so plain that she is strangely compelling type of beauty). And how about this for Kerowyn: Cory Everson. She can act (a little) and she does combine muscularity, physical fitness, and sexuality like no-one else (remember Karal's first reaction to Kero--she is definitely a very attractive woman). For a more mature Talia, why not Molly Ringwald? At least the look would be right, and I think she is past the Brat-Pack thing enough to act whatever role. Anyway, those are some ideas. Now, if we can just figure a way to get Emanuelle Beart in, I will be happy. I'm wondering if I should...I'm trying to save money, but > it's *Misty*... > --Morticia I have it in hardcover. It's been a year or so since I read it, but I liked it. I just like her gypsy characters a lot. I always thought Nightinglae was cool since the first description of her in L&W. -+AT+->--- Stormcloud In the name One in Black of the Moon Jenna, the Misty maniac I'll punish you! jwil3969-+AT+-simcl.stjohns.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Mar 1996 12:35:19 EST From: "Stormcloud" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Kerowyn (was RE: Hunks) Message-ID: <1069CCE111C-+AT+-SIMCL.STJOHNS.EDU> Jaguar wrote: > On Thu, 7 Mar 1996, Jake (Rynath *OIB*) wrote: > > > I like her best out of all the (Velgarath series) main women... Her Generation Warriors trilogy, which I believe she wrote with someone else, I can't remember who. Those were the ones about Sassinak and Lunzie. Those were pretty good. I haven't really been keeping up with her new stuff, except her dragonrider books. -+AT+->--- Stormcloud In the name One in Black of the Moon Jenna, the Misty maniac I'll punish you! jwil3969-+AT+-simcl.stjohns.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Mar 1996 12:55:17 EST From: "Stormcloud" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Misty's collaborations Message-ID: <106F20120B7-+AT+-SIMCL.STJOHNS.EDU> > IMHO her collaborations with Andre Norton, in the ElvenBane and Elvenblood > books were superb. I had one of her books with me, "A Strange and Ancient Name" when I had to spend the night in the hospital last summer. I was reading almost non-stop the entire night, until they made me go to sleep. Anyway, I would like to see Misty and Tanya Huff collab. They have very similar styles, and they know each other, or at least reado one another's stuff (see the Lackey-Dixon-Gryphon reference in Tanya's "Blood" books). Then again, I'm also hoping Misty will take me on as a protege, so let me just keep on dreaming, shall I? -+AT+->--- Stormcloud In the name One in Black of the Moon Jenna, the Misty maniac I'll punish you! jwil3969-+AT+-simcl.stjohns.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Mar 1996 13:03:26 EST From: "Stormcloud" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Brad Pitttttt? From the beginning they had elements of Sci-fi in them, although maybe she went a little _overboard_ bringing it in. Pern was just another planet discovered and colonized by people from earth-- there's a basic sci-fi tie-in right there. Message-ID: <3DBAE132723-+AT+-pub.sbu.edu> Heelllooo? I'm back from break ... I think. Physically, if not mentally. So, what have I been missing, hmmm? I re-read "The Oathbound" and "Oathbreakers" over break ... and to heck with Vanyel, Kris, Andre LeBrel and the rest ... I want Jadrek! Heh, heh ... forgive the outburst, I know there are many very intelligent men on this list. I'm just not meeting many of the type in person lately. Grumble, grumble ... don't ask. Trust me. On the more semi-serious side, I also re-read the "Winds" trilogy. (I'm a fast reader :) In "Winds of Fate," Elspeth mentions that the twins (Lyra and Kris) have Companions "following them around by the nose" everytime they go into Companion's Field, and Gwyna says that there'll be fights over who's going to do the Choosing in a few years. Hmmm ... just how old *are* the twins? That should make an interesting plotline after "Storms", don't you think? Also ... *why*, exactly, are they *so* popular with the Companions? They're good kids, I'm sure, and with their heritage on both sides they'll be gifted with all three kinds of power ... political, mind-magic and "real" magic. But that kind of connection hints at ... how did Elspeth put it? ... a "Grand Destiny." Monarch and Monarch's Own, as she thought? Also, the assassin that tryed to kill Elspeth in the same book - the "Cold One." I always expected to hear more on them, and didn't. It's mentioned that they (the cult) come from (not quoting, here, don't have the book with me) further south then anyone in the Skybolts than Geyr. And since I believe *he's* a member of the ... what was the name, again? ... the race of the Black Kings, I half- expected to see them show up in the Gryphon trilogy. Sigh ... not even real discussion here. Just bits n' pieces that happened to stick in my head. Anyone else want to comment?
