I never took the time to learn their names.. I still hold that, (What's the guys name from Three Musketeers? Tim something?) Well... I still say that HE should be Orthellen. He's such a PERFECT bad guy..... :) Whose going to play Griffen? *eep* So much to do, so little time........ Well... I'm not sure. I JUST lent that book to a friend, but I'm pretty sure that she was briefed the day before she left on her internship... It was the morning after the big Herald's revel, and she woke up with a hangover and found the note on her door.... but then again, maybe I'm wrong. I _do_ remember that Kris was supposed to drill her on their ride North..... *ponder* Now I'm officially confused..... Would anyone disagree > that Sayvil was waiting for Kerowyn? Remember that Yfandes was the only adult Companion (IIRC) that hadn't Chosen when she Chose Van. I think she was waiting for him. Actually, I think maybe they do have Heralds "in mind", or maybe are "destined" for certain people. I seem to remember at the end of Magic's Price that when 'Fandes goes back to Van she said she knew what was going to happen and she didn't regret Choosing him. It sounds to me like it is a destined thing, although maybe the Companions have a little more choice in the decision than their Chosen. > Oh, BTW, You know you've been reading to much Misty when you come in Sunday > to work overtime on your own time and read all the Misty digests instead of > working. Sooooo what's stopping the studio > execs from casting older people as other characters? They do it all the time. I almost droppped dead when I saw how badly they changed the Armand from the books. Not only was he supposed to be 15, but he had _red_ hair and IIRC, he had been born in Russia somewhere and was living in France. Even a French accent would have been better than his Spanish one, in this role, at least. I actually understand the casting of Kirsten. A younger child might be frighten by some of the things that Kirsten had to do in the role of Claudia. It is easier for me to accept the diffence between a 12 year old and a 5/6 year old (was that how old Claudia was?). > I just hope they don't go and Interview-ize the Vanyel books, removing the > homosexuality (like they did with Interview). Puh-leeeeze! I also heard recently that there is a school district, I forgot which state it is in, where they forbade all non-academic extra-curricular activities in order to prevent the Gay-Lesbian-Straight Alliance to meet. (Ironically, they were allowing non-academic extra-curricular clubs to meet in order to allow religious groups to meet on school grounds.) This hang-up over homosexuality drives me insane. Love is love, no matter how it is given, as long as it is given freely. Sorry to everyone who doesn't care about my ranting-- I just had to get that out! -+AT+->--- Stormcloud In the name One in Black of the Moon Jenna, the Misty maniac I'll punish you! jwil3969-+AT+-simcl.stjohns.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Mar 1996 11:51:07 EST From: "Stormcloud" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: Re: White Gryphon, Tolkien, and Lammas Night Message-ID: <11DDFD17ACA-+AT+-SIMCL.STJOHNS.EDU> Rynath wrote: > Okay. I know that there are a lot of fantasy fans who feel that Tolkien is a god, etc. and so forth. I don't feel that I should apologize for my opinions, but I have this eerie feeling I'm going to get jumped on. I respect the man for the ground-breaking work he did in world and language-crafting, but I think Tad Williams is a much better author in the same style. > No, on second thought, another book I can't pick up is _Lammas Night._ I can't > read ten stories with the same characters with different endings... But there aren't the same characters in every story. Granted I've only read one or two of the stories, but each author puts his/her own slant on the story and character, and each author gives the character a personality of his.her own creation. I think it is interesting to read how different minds interpret the same story. -+AT+->--- Stormcloud In the name One in Black of the Moon Jenna, the Misty maniac I'll punish you! jwil3969-+AT+-simcl.stjohns.edu ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 413 *********************************
