We have an annual pow-wow up here every spring put on by the Bad River Ojibwe tribe. They sell merchandise at a much reduced rate than those in stores, plus you know it was a genuine item. I actually don't buy any tribal merchandise like that since I was taught beading and how to make dreamcatchers and such by a tribal elder this last year. I do recall reading something about Misty having worked with some sort of raptor (don't remember which bird it was - so of course Kenny could be right if I have the wrong bird!!) King Festil does not know or care And so we flee. Herald! Beware! Lord Nedren comes, he comes today! Vanyel: I will ride up to bar the way. Now look here, Nedren, it's quite tragic Using farmers for blood magic. Now, let them go. I'll let you be. It's bad enough they had to flee. Nedren: Come now, Herald, just name your price. I'll give you treasure--it's very nice. Or slaves, or power; even land, Just leave us, leave us! Leave our band! Vanyel: Treasure? Bah! I want it not And slaves and power's not that hot. I am a mage, and so I say, Go away, Nedren! Go go away! Nedren: If you will not now get out, My wizard, he will make you pout. Hey, wizard? Wizard! Help my plight! Remove this Herald from my sight. Wizard: Oh Herald you have erred the last Because my demons need repast. And so I summon them, right now, They'll get you good! Real good and how! Demon 1: Booga! Demon 2: Booga! Demons: We are here! What a lunch! We shall crunch and munch and munch. His soldiers too! Oh, what a meal! Nedren could now only squeal. Vanyel: And so, farmers, the deed is done. Nedren is gone! Your lives are won. Farmer: Thank you, thank you! You're the best! Of this we never would have guessed: That you would help us in our fear But lucky, lucky we came here. Vanyel: Do not forget--I helped you well. Well, I don't have any definitive answers, but when I use the term falconer, I mean someone who raises, trains, and flies raptors (from kestrels on up.) I don't think that Misty fits this definition, although she may have flown falcons at some point. I am looking at her "Author's Note" from WoF, even as I type, and she makes no claims to being a falconer. In fact, the phrasing leads me to think that she does not consider herself to be a falconer. She talks about them as if she were an admiring outsider. She also makes it very clear that falconing is a arduous and legally complex hobby. I imagine that she is very interested in falcons, and perhaps does fly them occasionally, but I don't think that she is a licensed Falconer in the sense of my definition above. Of course, I freely admit that I do not know for sure, and could easily be wrong. May the seas be your solace and the forests a refuge for your spirit, Cennydd, Mage of the Green Silences. OH, ObMisty: Misty should write an epistolary novel! It could be about Andre and consist of his letters to some lover in his past? Perhaps a gypsy? Or even better, to someone in his life, explaining how he came to be the guardian of a Romany tribe? Perfect. I am getting my Ph.D. in Linguistics and, while I am studying, I teach Introduction to Linguistics, French, ESL, and Language and Gender (My B.A. is in French Comparative Literature with a specialization in Gender Studies). Actually, I am not that hard a grader, as long as my students try to do something good. And since it is fairly clear from the first day of class that I won't accept BS, most of my students end up doing fairly well. I hope that you have plenty of cool teachers when you are back in college. I know that there are a lot of cool people in English (you have to love English more than anything else, to become an English teacher, so your average English teacher is at least dedicated to the field). Hopefully, you will be able to put your reading in Fantasy Fiction to work for you. There are always profs out there who are willing to accept fant-fict for classes. Who knows, you might want to do what I did at one point and talk a prof into letting you do an independant study in Fantasy. That was one the best experiences of my time as an undergrad. Her name is Karen, and she is 1/2 Korean and 1/2 North American (European descendants). Finding out whether or not one is an appropriate donor requires only a blood test. All expenses for the donor will of course be paid. If you are or know anyone who is of like origin, please email me as soon as possible at . I would also appreciate your sharing this message with the people you know. Karen's doctors are searching through the registered donor list, and haven't had much luck. Our best bet is to find someone who is not yet registered as a donor. I welcome any suggestions you have, and appreciate your concern. Her statement: "Hey, I've just realized that Tarma appears in Winds of Change (well, it sure seems to be her.) She's one of the swordsworn towards the end (I assume it's her because she calls Elspeth "student of my student". You learn something new every day!" Looking back I realized I completely glossed over this. But now that I see it, it makes sense.. Comments? (Just in case, buy lots of both .series and throw them at people! Leave them gift wrapped in movie theaters! . Just buy, buy, buy!) Everyone buy Di Tregarde books for every holiday! Birthdays, Easter/Passover/Equinox, Christmas/Hannukah/Solstice... etc... . I heard this rumor from Firebird! Ever since I heard on a CompuServe forum with Misty ages ago about _Arcanum 101_ and _Triangle Park_ I eagerly awaited their release. But Firebird has it plastered under the Di Books... something like "Due to the low sales of this series, TOR books will not be printing the rest of the books..." As soon as I saw that I was soooooooooooo upset! Di was my first introduction to Misty (_Children Of the Night_) and to even *think* the series would be cancelled left me depressed...
