I don't think that they are the same person, there are about 1000 years between the Mage War and Darkwind's time, after all. I always thought that they are 2 different women called Ravenwing. Really *big* coincidence, but hey, what the heck, it could happen, no? Even *if* feathers or feathermasks could, erm, survive a thousand years, I don't think that much of her personal belongings made it through the eruptions of magical energy and afterwards she would have had too much at her hands to have the leisure to create jewelry. Ach, what a garbled sentence. Did it make any sense at all? Maybe the Ravenwind of k'Sheyna is "exiled" with the other half of the clan (mostly the women, as it seems; I'll say it again: there should be more Tayledras women in the books!). Oh, before I forget: Read this post with a big IMO in the back of your minds - I was way too lazy to type it in every sentence! ;) And one last request: can someone please tell me the ISBN of White Gryphon? When was the Wild Hunt ever "esoteric"????? [ooohhhh 5?!]) I've tried hunting on the Net, but only found two sources. It's for a story I'm writing. . . What I was wondering is, when someone is being hunted by the Wild Hunt, how do they get away? I mean, is there a way to deter the Wild Hunt (and please don't send me the "pray to God or Jesus" bit, I already have that info but it doesn't fit in the context of the story) so that they won't kill you or force you to join the ranks, or carry you far away? I can read a 300 page book in about three hours. Not speed reading, just a nice relaxed reading speed. If it takes you 10 hours to experience the book, then that's how fast you read. It only takes me 3 hours to read it and get the same thing out of it as you. Not only am I looking at words faster, but I'm processing them faster, and thinking about them faster. I don't think just comprehending words is reading, but to actually think about it. The whole process is just faster for me. You wouldn't say that you should use an old faishones lawnmower because it had more time to experience the lawn, you use a newer one becuae it is faster, but still does just as good of a job. I can't read slower than what is natural for me, becuae then I can't think about what'a going on, for me to read nay slower, I would consciously have to spend more time on each word, which means I couldn' t devote my attention to the book. He was an Adept, after all, and was able to >tap into nodes to enhance his strength. > If Van had collapsed the walls Leareth would have just shielded against the falling rocks... Leareth was being fed from a small army of apprentices that were tapping nodes on the other side of the mountain... Vanyel was running out of power quickly... Vanyel was at top strength.. He had recovered his power while staying with the Kyree, so that had little to do with it... The final strike, as I understand it, is unblockable... To quote Sean Connery from Highlander 2: "If you could take all your energy, all your life force, and channel it into a single moment you can accomplish anything." He had just enough life energy, with yfandes help, to overcome all of Leareth's defenses and take him down... When you think about how powerful Van was (I believe there is mention that he could level all of Haven at a whim) it's kind of scary to think about the amount of energy that must have been released when he called it down and it's even more horrifying to think that it was JUST ENOUGH to take Leareth down... Think of how powerful Leareth must have been for that to be true... *shiver* Leareth was too powerful for any other form of attack... Although I have to admit, when I first read it I expected Moonsong and Starblade to gate in and save him... Or something along those lines... Kerowyn's mother is made to seem like a real wimp, just Speaking of Vanyel's mom... You remember how well she treated Yfandes? In fact, all of the characters in the Magic books really treated the companions well. I mean, treated them a lot like people. But the other books, while there is lip service played to treating the companions like real people, they keep falling through, and even the heralds treat them like horses. For example: The heralds keep talking about being able to ride a companion well enough to make love on their backs... While this might be a comment that a horseman (equistrian sp?) would make, I would rather doubt that a person would make that comment about another sentient being. IIRC, Van just makes some comment that he's too far away to sense 'Fandes, not that he's in pain. And if Van's not in pain, then 'Fandes probably isn't.
