Elven Fortress, or something? Well, it's not suprising that you thought that Fish was on SS. After all, I think she did the music for every other one of Misty's albums. And what's so bad about FFF (that's "Freedom, Flight, and Fantasy" for the unenlightened)? Although I admit that "Dream Rider" and "The Trap" have really got to go. The long song is "A Last Battle", and I like it. It kind of grew on me. Speaking of FFF, "Snow Magic" bugs me. There are so many flaws in the "plot". Why did she have to kill a man? The other wolves could have done it. Why didn't she just turn Alexi into a wolf after? And that line about her denying him nothing. Hello? She wouldn't tell him who she was, she refused to leave the forest, and she wouldn't let him stay after moonrise. Sounds like she denies him quite a bit. And I'm sure that she could have gotten him out of the forest somehow. Oh, and "a raging bitch-queen"? That's terrible. ;) I think you can tell that this song bugs me. I like it, but it bugs me. :) Mat Cat Person and Adept and soon to |"Each man builds his own garden, by what be named God of Procrastination | his heart says is true. The interesting thing about this is that it's presumably the same Writ that the Tayledras have (mentioned in Winds of Fate/Change), which presumably was a list of Urtho's creatures, or at least non-Ma'ar creatures. This might, by implication, be further evidence that the Karsites were in some way associated with the Kale'd'in at some point (and hence Vkandis and the Star-Eyed might have met/been co-worshipped). ["So Star-Eyed, how did you meet Vkandis anyway?" "Oh, you know how it is, he was being worshipped at his temple, I was being worshipped at mine.. The rest as they say, is history.] Point being, that the Hertasi would be unlikely to be changed into 'scaled ones' given that Urtho used the Hertasi name for them and the rest of the writ seemed to have come down verbatim. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cennyd wrote: > Ok, having said all that, I also have to say that I am not looking > forward to death, either. In Winds of Fury, early on, Falconsbane muses about how Adepts can prolong life, [paraphrased] "long enough to learn to cheat death and prevent old age and decreptitude from catching up. As Ma'ar had learned to cheat death." That's badly paraphrased, and the original has the implication more strongly but nonetheless.. Ma'ar was first. Cheers, Kerry. "You are incorruptible, Abraham. I wanted to get Mishi to order it for me but I need to know the size first. If you have the size of any other SFBC books, please send me the info at my private e-mail: chenchen-+AT+-rgs.edu.sg Thanks! Well, she did say Van was singing that song about someone trapped in a magic circle for however many years (I forgot) and that it would take that long to sing it... I was talking about this with 'Reesa the other day, and she pointed out an important point: that we wouldn't neccesarily know each other in my next life. It's funny, neither am I. When I'm at a funeral and such, my family thinks I'm strange. Sure, I'm sad for the fact that the person who passed away isn't *here* and we won't be able to deal with them anymore, but I never have gotten all weepy and collapsed and choked up. > What worried me was leaving family behind >and things undone. Here's the latest [lost track of what number] top ten list. And the humor file is under construction... so don't ask me for it for another week. :) All this organizing is hard work! ============================================================= IT'S SCARY... OR TEN *MORE* REASONS YOU KNOW YOU'VE BEEN READING TOO MUCH MISTY ============================================================= I've found myself becoming more and more into Misty's stuff. And I've noticed that I've been doing several things that frighten me. All of these I have done! And, sadly, the quotes underneath are as near-to-actual as I can remember.. It's scary.. 10. ... when you go through the latest Firebird Arts and Music catalog, checking off what you've purchased ... and there's a check mark on almost every page. YOUR FRIEND : "So, is this what you want?" YOU: "No..." "That's what I *have.*" 9. ... when you're watching television, and you find Misty references in almost everything. YOU : "Picard! Picard just was talking to Troi about horses being COMPANIONS! And the horse he's riding is WHITE!" YOUR FRIEND: "Shut up!" 8. ... when you start organizing your paperbacks and hardbacks by author ... and discover that you need a new bookcase to put Misty's books in ... so you move your dresser OUT and the new bookcase IN. YOU: "Now I can fit them all in here!" YOUR MOTHER: "What's this dresser doing out in the hallway?" 7. ... when you start fantasizing about a *fictional* character that Misty wrote. YOU: "Man, if I had a chance, I'd be with Kerowyn in a *minute.* She's so alluring!" YOUR FRIEND: "Well, *I'd* go for Vanyel. Even if he is gay..." 6. ... when you find your filk tapes have been moving to the forefront of your listening schedule, and stuff like Top 40 music is something you never listen to anymore. YOUR BROTHER: "Hey! What's with this 'Shadow Stalker' garbage? Where the heck is the Nine Inch Nails tape you used to keep in here?" 5. ... when you find yourself *liking* Leslie Fish's singing voice. YOUR FRIEND: "But I thought you said you *hated* what she sounded like!" YOU: "But did you ever hear 'Banned from Argo?' Or 'The Gods Are Not Crazy?' She did such a great version of 'Wind's Four Quarters'... I love her voice and I love her music!!!" 4. ... when you use oaths like "Bright Havens!" "Gods!" "By the Hand of the Lady!" "Holy Stars!" etc. etc. in lieu of "Jesus Christ!" or "Damn!" YOU: : "BRIGHT LADY! AAARGH! THAT HURT!" YOUR MOTHER: "What Lady? What are you TALKING about?" 3. ... when you start looking in detail at the Last Herald- Mage trilogy covers, and discover that you can identify all the people in the border around the main picture. YOU: "Well, that guy with the flute on the upper-left- hand corner of _Magic's Pawn?_ That's gotta be Moondance. And under him is 'Lendel, and then Savil..." YOUR FRIEND: "But who's that naked girl with the snakes in her hair on the other side?" 2. ... when you get upset over the fact that your sets of trilogies don't *match.* YOU: "I hate it! On my bookshelf I have a paperback version of _Black Gryphon_... a small hardback version of _White Gryphon_... and a large hardback version of _Silver Gryphon!_ The set doesn't match! I can't put the whole set together on the shelf! Aaaieee!" YOUR FRIEND: "Relax! Jeez, it's only *books.*" 1. ... when you find that most of your creative energy goes toward humor related to Misty, and, even though you are a writer and have paid submissions to work on, your only freelance "sale" over the past two months was of one of your song parodies to a fanzine. YOUR MOTHER: "Go to bed! It's 1:30 in the morning!" YOU: "In a minute, Mom! I'm working on ... something!" I say that once I find out things are loping towards Death quickly, I want to have CONTROL. I'll probably do myself in before I die naturally.
