For myself, I'd love to have one, if there's not any problems with copyright, which I suggest you check, before putting a lot of effort into it. Just MHO (my humble opinion). ============================================= #3: I don't really fear my own death, it's other people's I have a problem with. When my grandmother passed away, I knew she was better off wherever she was, but I missed her. I didn't grieve for her, but for myself. And really, what's wrong with the old-fashioned methods, arsenic, cyanide, knives, guns? However, if you want a surprise with an awful cover, Persia Wooley's trilogy, Child of the Northern Spring; Queen of the Summer Stars; and Guenivere, Lady in Autumn was the best version of Gwen I've ever seen, she was all Celtic Queen, and not the simpering betrayer that she's usually portrayed as. What are you waiting for, go read it!!!!! Oh, one other thing, Michelle West wrote a couple of books, Hunter's Oath, and it's sequel, Hunter's Death, which (so far) are wonderful!!! But its so much more interestesting! And if its really subtle, theres no need for anyone to know it was done by Fetching. Use it to say.. Fetch a small pebble into someone's brain.. it looks like a stroke. If you have really good control, drop a sharp edge (razor) into someone's lung and make sure it penetrates the wall. Likewise with the heart. There are a multitude of ways to be very subtle and have very large results. Otherwise.. I'll take my knives. > #5: Lady Nightshadow, I highly recommend Misty's Shadowstalker CD. > I have 3 or 4 now, and SS is the one I like the best. Ok, I was just sitting down to order this CD (among others) from Firebird, and I noticed: "Oathbreakers CD Pre-order $15.00". (and seeing as this was one of the CDs I was going to order) I have to ask.. "Pre-order"? Of what are they refering to? If you have ever seen the film, "Clueless," you know what this looks like. Cher's relationship with Christian is classic. She is busy praising him to all her friends and going on about he never even looks at any girls but her, and he is busy flirting with cute boys and dropping bobby pins all over the place. Clues for miles, girlfriend! Anyway, I am not sure if Melenna really qualifies for victim of the CotPW. Usually, you have to have a string of such relationships before you are really considered cursed. On the other hand, for elapse time, she prob holds the record, so maybe she does count as a victim. -----EOM On Mon, 1 Jul 1996, Ian Macdonald wrote: BOM>>>Subject: Re: Death and the Shadow-Lover >>>I would guess that since fetching must magic, then personal sheilds which should stop magic should stop fetchin.<<< Except that we know that fetching isn't magic. To me, the name Barbara conjures up images of the proud Celtic women who defied the Romans and won their admiration for their bravery and beauty. So there! (Ok, Barbara also conjures up visions of M&M's, beautiful hand-made quilts, and endless gardens of gorgeous flowers, herbs, and vegetables. About the same as the requirements to be a farmer in the real world. My grandfather always described our families refusal to be beaten as "if somebody broke every bone in your body and told you to stay down, you would still wiggle your pinky at them!" My family spent a lot of time wiggling our pinky at nature and all the adversities thereof. Even in the urban world, we still do it. That is what farming is all about: not giving up. Most of the time, you live on the ragged edge of disaster and it seems like nature has it in for you. But then you look out in the morning and see the mist rising off the fields and rolling up the mountains, or you sit out on the porch at night and watch the fireflies and listen to the kneeker-breekers, or you go wandering through the woods in the winter to gather sap for maple sugar and it is all cold and still and silent, and you realize that everything is worth it. Or sometimes, you just stand there and feel the land filling you up and wrapping your soul in itself and it is wonderful. Can you tell that I miss it? My family was finally forced to leave our farm by economics when I was a kid. However, because my parents chose to leave before things were completely impossible, we were able to keep most of the farm and only sell a very tiny bit. Which means that our family's land is still waiting for us. We go back and visit it when we can and I know that my sister and I both are planning to retire to it (there is room for both of us *grin*). There is a wonderful Mexican song that says it perfectly. It is on Tish Hinojosa's "Aquella Noche" album and the words to the chorus are: Tu que puedes, vuelvete / "You who can, come back," Me dijo el rio llorando / The weeping river said to me. Y los cerros que tanto quieres / "And the mountains that you love so much," Me dijo / It told me, Alla estan esperando / "Are waiting there." The first time I heard this song, I started to cry. I could hear the mountains and fields of my home calling. Oh Dear, I had prob better stop now or I am going to start crying again.
